Ski lodge has a GREAT cafeteria with many options (Recommended = Hot Chocolate & Chocolate Chip Cookies). 2 bar areas aside from cafeteria. Ski (Ski Brand store) - Main Lodge and Wisp Souvenirs (Lower Level of bldg) shops in bldg.
Many tables in the Lodge, but many people put their stuff down and leave for other areas/activities. This leaves many to scramble for seating when they actually want to rest & eat. Those who aren't going to stay at the table... they should have to put their items elsewhere to allow persons to come and go.
Nice that there are lockers along wall; however, maybe putting in a checked/monitored Coak Room would be nice.
The one thing that I noticed could be more prevelant & available is charging stations. I know this would require some electrical intervention to create multiple areas.
Disappointed that an ice rink wasn't available especially as it was still part of the advertising. Yes, the rink was terrible last year with divots/holes and rough ice. This was quite dangerous and not very enjoyable.
In leaving Wisp Ski Lodge to head back to rental house, I/we were surprised that the front pond isn't being used for an ice rink. In our eyes, it would seem simple and large for those who don't ski, etc. or just like the chance to ice skate in an outside environment. With all the property that Wisp has, there should be some place to provide an enjoyable ice rink experience which is well-maintained.
The Mountain Coaster was still an element to be used and enjoyed.
It is recommeneded that you place phone reservations for Snow Tubing a day or so ahead, as the Saturday of President's Day weekend is the busiest day at Wisp the entire winter.
We arrived to find out that there was no ice rink and tubing was sold out (Saturday,...
Read moreThis place was a lot of fun! The prices are a little high for the quality of the activities. The staff leaves a bad taste in your mouth which cost them an entire star. I spoke to Roxanne who was short, rude, and not very helpful. This is not my first time visiting Deep Creek, MD but it was my first time there participating in winter activities. They lost another star for having things go wrong during the 2 days we spent there. The conveyor belts went down for the snow tubing activity and we were told we could not be refunded or rescheduled for the activity. We we're scheduled for a 1 to 3 p.m. session. It was about 2 p.m. when the conveyor belts were operating again. As our time came to a close, the lines were ridiculously long so we asked a staff member at the top of the hill if we could get one more run in as it was almost 3pm, the end of our session, he refused. There is plenty of lodging but I would look as soon as you can because the prices hike instead of dropping the closer you get to your travel date. A lot of people require a 3-night minimum but we were able to find Railey Mountain vacations who only require a 2 night minimum. Chances are, I will spend the extra hour driving to Seven...
Read moreThe tubing lanes that were open were wide and well groomed, that’s about where the positives end.
Check in process was incredibly slow, despite having pre-purchased tickets for a group in advance. Not enough check-in lines open for the number of people there. The poor overworked girl stated their new system was supposed to be an upgrade, but was incredibly slow and they hated it.
The hill itself was only partially open, despite nighttime temperatures well below freezing. The hill was also understaffed… With not enough people pushing riders at the top and not enough people clearing riders at the bottom.
The kicker was only one of the two moving walkways was operational, causing a massive back up getting up the hill - with no communication from the staff… finally a group of people just started walking up the stationary one out of frustration. Being almost a half hour into your session before you even make it to the top of the hill the first time can’t help but leave a sour taste in your mouth.
All in all, highly disappointed and cannot recommend. There are better options at Wintergreen and Massanutten and other parks...
