Ledo Pizza — Restaurant in Oakland

UPDATE: As requested, I posted my complaint to the Ledo website. It has now been a week with no response. I'm not a free-food seeker, but an apology would have been nice.

"Experienced servers and cooks wanted. Apply within."

The signs say it all, and boy, do they need both badly.

Our order was put in at 2:49 p.m., and at 3:15, we started to discuss at the table why it had been 25 minutes when the restaurant was not overly crowded and we were the last to come in for a while. In all that time, the server had not returned to the table to check on us.

After constant staring from our table to the cluster of employees at the front counter, the server went back to the kitchen. At 3:20, she said "It's in the oven." Six minutes later, one item came out and was served, and this was repeated at four-minute intervals for the other two. It took a total of 45 minutes from the time the order was put in until all items were on our table.

All items were taken straight from the oven and brought to our table — yet all items had soggy bottoms. I suspect that the oven may be turned down when not in use. When we were finished, the server gave us aluminum pasta pans to take two-thirds of a pizza home with us.

In all that time, no explanation, excuses or apologies were given by anyone. They seemed to treat it as business as usual, and our bringing up that something may be amiss was met with a pair of smirks. People who know me point out that I overtip, but in this case I left nothing. The lack of apology or acknowledgement of the problem/snafu was unacceptable. I've been to Ledos plenty of times, but as prices rise and the service gets worse, I find myself eating there less and less.

Most recently I ordered a Italian cold cut sandwich for takeout. It was a lunch special that included fries and a drink.

The price was reasonable considering costs these days, but the sandwich was just built so horribly that it was hard to eat, and the taste was so mediocre that I found myself disappointed once I had finished it. The fries were nothing to write home about, but at least my drink was good (bottle of white Gatorade).

While we were waiting for our order, we noticed a sign that said parties of five or more will have a 20% gratuity automatically added to their bill. While I understand that large parties who dine in at restaurants are a lot of work and don't always tip well, a group of five is your average family. If Ledos thinks the average family is so hard to handle that they demand 20% more for your patronage, then my family is better off staying home and making a home-cooked meal that's cheaper and taste better than what we can get at Ledos.

I'd recommend the Green Turtle as an alternative for better food, but it's more expensive and the service there is worse. (They screwed up a takeout order and...

Went there to eat yesterday, waitress was sick said it was allergies she could barely even talk and they do 18% tip on the bill without your permission- and they don't let you know they are going to do it which is illegal but it's automatic and if you order take out to take food home to the kids at home they include it on the dine in bill it gets the 18% tip added to it also!!! Service was minimum and poor and she was rude of course with a sick waitress I imagine she didn't even want to be there. Called and spoke to manager today I was nice but she wasn't much better she was rude and it's apparent she does care for her staff but not her customers. She claimed the waitress went to urgent care and it was only allergies but again when you have someone who is sick serving my food it makes me uncomfortable. I also asked about tip automatically being added she was smart and said if I come back in they will refund it. When I said we didn't feel like the waitress earned a $20 tip as her service was minimum she got smart with me and said I was being rude!!! Really...wow we will never go to this place again I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. So thankful there are other places to go in the area with good food and good customer service where customers...
