There's a lot of things about the Governor's all cuts budget except for his $100M to cops with the GOP that will hurt a lot of folks. But I think what really brought it home was hearing he is slashing $$ to food banks. And having all that move forward while the Governor has a weekend of excess for his Birthday party with powerfuls, or lobbyists and whom others really made me realize our new Governor is not a roll his sleeves up type like former Governor Inslee. I remember when Gov Inslee came during the wild fires to canvass with on the ground campaign managers and how he hosted young people at his office to get their input on incarceration. It's really sad that the POTUS issues will cover for the lack of care and creative effort to increase state revenues by the Governor. And in reality, what is being described as centrist is likely that beyond hiring cops, he does have much forward thinking to improve our safety. But at the very least, donate your food to the food banks you're about to leave bereft rather than the excess of weekend parties for yourself as your cuts leave...
Read moreI went with a group for a tour and presentation about black history month that featured stories about notable historical African Americans. It was a nice tour. It had a lovely little art gallery with a featured Washington artist. The vibe was stuffy and uncomfortable. I felt like I was not wanted there. But of course, I guess that's to be expected. Anyhow, I've been to museums and parties at nicer mansions where I felt more welcome. Good place to see once. Wouldn't jump at the chance to attend another...
