Heritage Park Fountain — Attraction in Olympia

I used to LOVE this splash pad and park but the day this photo was taken there was a bizarre fight/altercation and about 3 (adult) people were bathing and washing their clothes (and shoes) in the water where all the children were playing. I don't know how I feel about that, but I have suggestions for the City: Clean up the damn park. Make it usable for tax paying citizens. Hire a guard or rent a cop to walk the grounds, fix the damn benches (seriously!) and keep the place tidy. I recognize we have a homelessness issue and a drug addiction issue, but letting this park go to the wayside is only going to...

We love this fountain/splash pad park. It's the best when it's warm & the kids love running around in the water & trying to guess where the water will shoot up next. It has a nice grassy area where you can lay a blanket & relax for a while or even have a picnic. There is some shade provided by some trees. The only issue is that it's right downtown & there are sometimes unsavory characters passing by. I've gotten used to that & have never had any incident, so it's just something to be aware of. It's a wonderful place for catching great photos...

The kids enjoy playing here but it has some downsides. The rocks are uncomfortable on bare feet, there often isn't a lot of shade to relax in, and they close the fountain during the hottest parts of the day. Also a lot of kids run and slide on the wet surfaces, which looks fun, but leads to slips and collisions. These days we avoid the fountain and more often visit the stream outside HOCM when we want to play in the...
