If as reviewing a rink to skate, I would give 5 stars, this place is very clean, bright, better ice condition comparing with others around. Some parents don’t care themselves or their kids to messing the place with their food, but few staffs here still try their best to keep the environment clean.
If I could give the learn to skate program here review, I would give zero star for now. Many young instructors are very lazy, and know nothing about teaching with kids. The worst is that there are too many students in one class, 12-15kids in one class has been very common for the past 8 months. Older kids have to do the movements with little kids on the same circle, because some instructors are not capable to separate them into two groups, or separate them with different speed abilities. And some young instructors teach kid with their mouths most of the time, seldom demonstrate the movements. You can’t expect kids can learn good with these kinds of situations. The learn to skate level evaluation(certificate )is a kind of joke here, you might be stuck with one level for more than half year when you can do all required movements better than next 2 level students , or move up to next level even you can’t do the required movements correctly at all. Passing the test or not depends on your luck. Wish you never have to meet young...
Read moreTook my date here since she mentioned she always wanted to try ice skating, and with the weather being hot, this seemed like a fun idea.
The rink has a mix of stuff going on private lessons, hockey leagues (adult and youth), etc. We came during the public skate hours (6 PM to 10 PM). It was a decent setup. There’s seating around the rink, and personal lockers are available for 50 cents. They provide skates if you don’t bring your own.
It was a good crowd which ranged from mostly kids and some young adults. It’s definitely cold inside, so bring a jacket, though you warm up once you start moving. The place was fairly clean and the bathrooms were fine.
Only downside was the staff, not rude, but not very friendly either, especially when answering questions and when handing out the rental skates.
Overall, it was a good time. My date had fun, and that’s what...
Read moreThere are a lot of "good reviews" from about two weeks ago. It makes you wonder why. There is a history of verbal and physical abuse at this rink. You are not safe. I will say that there's a lot of unsafe rinks to be honest but things that have taken place are shocking to say the least.
In someone else's review (search up broken leg) you can see a picture that a 911 call was made; due to someone injuring themself - their equipment puts you at more risk. Alongside that, the staff is not qualified.
From three weeks ago, in a separate review, you can also see a photo of a new sign posted in a review. "Unreasonable Policy with racist staffs & asked to stay outside waiting for the session." Waiting outside in 90-100 degrees is not acceptable.
I do enjoy seeing Mr. Kwan at EWIP but everyone here is...
