Great produce and exquisite Amish deli- I shop here often. However - my last experience was odd and disappointing.
I was in line waiting to check out. The line I was in wasn’t long - I believe I was next. A store clerk who sees me standing in line offers to take care of me in a vacant check out lane. I had a several bags in one hand and 2 twenty dollar bills in the other. Her first words were “ is it 7 yet”? I responded and carried on a simple conversation. Everything came to 24 dollars and some change... money in hand CLEARLY - she begins pressing numbers on the credit card key pad as if I’m going to pay by card ( which I thought was odd being that the 2 twenty dollar bills were in my hand and visible to all.
“I’m paying cash” I told her - again she said “ tell them to send me home” as she quickly joked and acted as if she was over tired.
The produce and deli meats totaled $24.58. I hand her the 2 twenty dollar bills, she quickly hands me back a 5 dollar bill and 42 cents and the receipt while cracking more odd conversation.
“ excuse me....You shorted me 10 dollars” I said
She acted surprised and open the register and handed me 10 dollars, saying again, “you see I need to be sent home” while laughing.
In my opinion - she knew what she was doing and she was quick and clever to to say what she said in case she got caught. She saw me in a line where I was next to check out- but she also saw that I had cash in my hand. She saw an opportunity - be aware of you’re paying with cash here - people are quick and will shortchange you these days.
That wasn’t a mistake - that was oddly an attempt to make a buck by...
Read moreI have been going to Clemons easily over 15 years. Though the owner cleaned it up a bit. Nothing can replace kindness and care for your customers. The staff that are still there are sweet Kind and curtious. I drove over 2 days ago to get my deli meat and cheese like I have for years. I was told they close at 5pm instead of 5:30 over the years now. So today I fly over to get to the deli and arrive at 4:45 due to my schedule early is dificult for me, As I come in the owner Mohammad tells me he decided to close 15 min.'s earlier today and actually told me he knew I called to come purchase two days ago. This is not the 1st or even 2nd time this has happened, which is why I called on the way in and appeared to be open. You don't change the time up and down to how you feel each day. I still tried to patronize the store because the staff is like family. Thank God I have found Trader Joes will order products you like at another store, and honestly have the Best Customer Service I have ever experienced not to mention better prices as they make their own product. No middle man increase. I will miss the staff from Clemons. But when you have an owner stating they closed 15 min.'s early smiling like he does not care after you drove 20 min. to get there once again. I'm done. This isn't a store that's more resonable their prices are up, so the lack of care for customers just adds more insult to enjury. It's sad to see the old store struggle comes from the top. Clemons lasted a long time, but I notice less and less people there. God Bless the Staff Thank You for Your...
Read moreClemons Market on Curry Ford Rd. was, until this afternoon, about 1:30 pm, a favorite place to shop for many years. Beware! Not so any more, I will never shop there again and feel I would like to warn others. I purchased a rather expensive bag of Troyer purple popcorn. I had not opened it, and was horrified last night when I found it crawling with tiny bugs, mites of some kind. I took the popcorn back today and the cashier could not have been more arrogant and snide if she had tried. She, instead of expressing some concern and trying to be helpful, snapped, "Do you have a receipt"? I didn't, but I took a rotted watermelon back once before without a receipt and the staff that time could not have been more polite and helpful; so, especially with the distinctive packaging of the popcorn, I thought the store would do something for me. This awful woman then said "We can't take it back without a receipt." When I expressed my disappointment the clerk (end register by the front door, glasses, not tall, of middle years, dark Hispanic looking), after saying she could do nothing for me at first said "If you'd given me a minute I would have said I'd ask the manager." This was said in a very nasty tone, accusatory really, as if their bug infested product was my fault. This was also as an about face from her initial reaction, voiced only after I expressed my unhappiness with the infested popcorn and her refusal to help me. Anyway, the market is not inexpensive, so don't waste your hard earned money shopping there like I did. Shame on...
