I had a 2:45pm appointment and showed up promptly on time. I checked in, sat down, and waited as one woman, after another came thru the salon door and were greeted by a stylist immediately, taken to their chair, and not told to wait. One woman even came in and exclaimed, âI booked this an hour ago!! So last minute!!â - and yet, she was walked directly to a chair and didnât have to wait like I did.
Four ladies were welcomed in and I was still sitting patiently at 3:05pm, 20 minutes later, for someone to notice me, bring me to the chair, apologize, something. The young girl behind the desk was on her phone the entire time and I hoped sheâd advocate that hey, we have a customer who has been waiting close to 25 minutes now for a simple wash and blow out. It wasnât until one of the technician ladies came over, asked the desk girl why I was still waiting - did either one of them finally decide to do something.
One of the techs brought me back finally to wash my hair, she was very sweet but there was no apology from anyone regarding the wait, how uncomfortable the whole experience started off. The tech was a sweet lady, but it was truly the stylist who made the experience 1000x worse.
The blonde woman who did my blow out wasnât very kind. No helloâs, no small talk. In all my years, Iâve never had such an awkward, uncomfortable experience like this. She was rough with her mannerisms, and stone cold to me. We didnât speak 80% of the appointment. It was awkward. I felt like my mother was doing my hair, and she was pissed off at me, had better things to do. Thatâs how this entire appointment felt.
The stylist had my hair pinned up to blow dry and every time sheâd overdue it and clamp my head. It hurt over and over. She scratched my shoulder twice with how she was trying to maneuver my hair - and at the end, she just goes âokay thanks!â and walks off. Again, we didnât speak the entire appointment. There was no small talk, no sense of appreciation that I came in to the salon - nothing. It was as if I had inconvenienced Mosaic, and their staff, with my appointment. I felt incredibly unwelcome.
I get my hair done weekly for work, and I travel to Houston, Miami, NYC, LA, and back every few weeks. Getting a blow out is relaxing, personal time. Itâs something I look forward to.
This entire experience was anxiety inducing and made me want to get up, leave mid service. A few times I considered it but knew it wouldnât do anyone any good. And from the $6 tip I left her, it should resonate that hey, maybe you need to be a little nicer to guests in your chair. I truly am blown away that a stylist like this could have such a total lack of empathy for her clients.
My first and last time...
Read moreNEVER AGAIN. WORSE SALON EXPERIENCE EVER. I chose Mosaic Hair Studios by searching online and looking at reviews. After working in Mali, Africa as a Paramedic for 3 months I couldnât wait to return home and pamper myself. I have been always a brunette with different shades and highlights but was ready for a change, a total hair makeover. After doing research online I thought Mosaic Hair Salon would be the perfect place. My change was to go for a lighter shade of Rose Gold. After research and watching videos on how this color is achieved I thought Id take the leap, even though the average time for the color change by my research was in the region of 7 hours, the result would be worth it. Right? Wrong. I emailed the front desk manager Nicky pictures of my hair color at her request, so they can compare my current color to the color I suggested which was Rose Gold. I was told in an email that the price would be between $200 and $260 but I might have to come in twice to achieve the color I was after. They could squeeze me in for three hours today (Thurs 29th March). Three hours? After all my research the alarms bells should have started ringing at this stage, however as I am on leave from working in a war torn country for the U.N. in Africa, the risk of having to pop back to the salon for a bit more girlie pampering time and to achieve the color I really wanted, the prospect of round two wasnât too much of an issue. So, three hours later I am in tears in the parking lot after being humiliated and asked to leave, as the color is pretty much back to where it was, with the salon asking for $200 on top of the $50 deposit I had already paid. I suggested I pay half now and the other half when I come back in to have the color put straight to the rose gold I wanted. Perfectly reasonable we thought as basically I was walking out pretty much as I had walked in. NO, no, no, no! To my amazement they wanted the whole lot paying for, as the owner leapt in to defend his hairdresser and told us in no uncertain terms that when you go to this salon you are not paying for the result of color or style that you wanted, you are paying for their time. So basically, unlucky lady, pay up for our incompetence and failure to achieve what you the customer wanted, and if you want us to try again, you must pay again, Iâll have to wait a month though because they need to bleach my hair again. Great! I can spend my whole leave with hair that I HATE and pay them to try again just before I head back to a war zone, NO guarantees though. Unbelievable! So, they want 500 odd dollars with no guarantee that they will get it right the second...
Read moreI waited a while to write this review because typically I try to steer away from negative reviews that can impact a business unless truly necessary but this one is necessary, for me. I went to Mosaic 2 months before my WEDDING day to get a trim. I was a loyal customer for about 3 years and saw various stylist all which I had good experiences with EXCEPT for the owner, Michael. It was my first time doing my hair with him and I entrusted that it would be perfect being that he's the owner and a "Master Stylist". What I got was nothing short of a shoddy job. I have never received a more botched haircut in my life. I didn't ask for layers and he took it upon himself to give me the most unblended and choppy layers of my life and uneven short side bangs. I asked for a trim and reminded him multiple times to not cut much because I wanted my hair to be as long as possible for my wedding and he cut off way more than I asked. I don't have to describe much because I have added a before and after picture(s) of my hair for you to see for yourself. What REALLY put the cherry on top for me was when I went back into the salon asking what could be done to correct the cut about a month later because it wasn't looking any better and I was feeling emotional about what to do with it now for my wedding - Michael DENIED having cut my hair. He literally told me to my face that "he wouldn't have cut my hair like that:" I asked "what can we do to make it look like how it was before?" and he answered, "time". I felt my face getting hot as I held back tears in his chair. He was cold, insincere, had a bad attitude and was unprofessional. YES he did cut my hair and the fact that he denied it, confirmed that it was that bad of a job. I had to pay for extensions before my wedding day. Needless to say, my hair has now mostly grown out and I've found my new hair salon home where the owner and stylists have been extremely warm, friendly, professional, trusting, talented and accountable for their work. I do not...
