This is my third purchase from Succulents Empire. 1st order was amazing- both the communication and the 1 gal Melano I ordered. Months later, she’s healthy, happy and GROWING, regularly putting out new leaves. 2nd order had some miscommunication and the incorrect plant delivered. It was resolved amicably and at the end of the day, this sort of thing happens from time to time. My point here is that the business responded. 3rd order was good- I paid for the expedited shipping. I don’t understand people that pay $$$ for their plants and then take the cheapest shipping option. Travel is stressful! Especially for these rarer plants. The Amazonica Aurea is smaller than I expected and not as variegated. To me at least, after going back and looking at the site, it isn’t very close to how it was represented. Small Alocasias in general don’t travel, even with expedited. I’m down to 3 leaves, but taking care of it and I’m staying optimistic, while also hoping for some better variegation. If it would have been more than the $50 I paid for it I’d probably feel a lot more upset with what I received. I also ordered a 1 gal Albo ($500), and she is a BEAUTY! Some of the leaves turned a little brown while getting acclimated (expected), but I am so happy to have this one in my collection. Roots, etc are healthy.
I saw some complaints about cost of the plants, root rot, too much water, etc. Not to sound condescending (honestly not my intention because who wouldn’t want to pay “less”), but no one is forcing anyone to buy at the price point the business lists their products. You do have the right to shop around. And in certain instances, specifically for rare, hard to find mature plants, the pricing isn’t that far off the mark. Root rot and too much moisture I’ve found to be a real risk of online plant purchases. If you catch it quickly you can mitigate the damage. I invested in a soil meter and I’ve more than gotten my money’s worth. Gives me great visibility and more often than not, all I have to do is pull the plant out of the pot to give it more “breathing room”...
Read moreI want you guys to be aware of.. I ordered this Epipremnum from them, Joelibeth was first nice to accomodate my order since the one I wanted got sold. So she sold this to me $605 with shipping. I paid Sept 19th and my plant was shipped sept 27, 1 week after I paid which I was surprised took a week long to ship so I ask then she said its being shipped nextday and said “Plant not ready still drying” so okay.. then it arrived october 1st. Everything was limpy.. so i left it alone, did not repot or whatever. It arrived with some yellow leaves already so I thought its just shipping stress. But each day I was wondering why majority of the leaves are turning yellow. So i contacted her asking for advice. She said put in a different spot and cut yellow leaves as itll push out soon. So okay. Then as days went by, I kept cutting leaf after leaf! Which I reached out again, she offered me $300 refund, okay.. but today the last remaining leaves are turning yellow too! (Havent watered still since its still moist!) After asking some advise from other plant groups, I went to check the roots. OH MY GOODNESS! Most roots fell out! Rot on the stem rot on most roots and its almost gone!! Contacted her again and told her! But she insisted the plant was okay and she showed me video of it in their store, yes she did but that was Sept 19th the moment she told me iwhats available, but never showed me the plant prior to shipping! Like clearly, the plant was either shipped toooooo wet or it was already like this before shipping! I asked if I could return in back and said they couldnt since I already manipulated the plant. Geeeez! I just decided to check on the roots today 10/13 as usually I dont touch or repot plants that came from shipping right away! I paid for a rooted Epi!! Not a cutting! I dont usually make reviews or do stuffs like this coz if its just tiny little problem I would always work around myself. But this situation is totally different. I’m so...
Read moreMy partner ordered 5 plants for me for my birthday. He placed the order over the phone, so never really interacted with the website and prices on there. Shortly after the plants got here, I found mealie bug infestations on two. The owner initially blamed them on my climate (though none of my other plants have mealie bugs and I don’t believe climate can create a pest if it wasn’t already present on the plant/soil). During my contact with her about the pests, I also noticed she had charged us 30% more on one plant than what was advertised online. She refunded that without issue. I have also since found that she incorrectly overcharged another plant from the order, but have not reached out. I was able to send back the two plants with pests, but was overall disappointed that they had pests to begin with, that I was blamed for them being there because of lack of humidity, and that we were overcharged for two separate plants.
On a separate note, the variegated Hoya compacta is beautiful and I’m very happy with the condition/quality of that one.
I have never written a review before, but this whole situation seemed odd and I wanted others to be aware to be alert about...
