Came to the Gnarly Barley one day. I had been hearing good things about this place for a long long time, and the proximity was very convenient for us, since we were right by all the Fringe Festival stuff. So we strolled in one day and had a seat. It was nice to get out of the sweltering heat for a while.

Ambiance is definitely gnarly. Very skateboardy vibe, a nice little bar with some TV's, our sandwich came out on a little paper in a basket. It was just very chill and casual and comforting. Loved it. Service was about the same as the ambiance. Very nice, cool folks that came and checked on us regularly. They felt our water glasses full. No complaints.

As for the food, we started off with Snack Attack Fries (waffle fries topped with house pulled pork, melty blue cheese, fresh pico de gallo, & tiger sauce). These were a lot of fun. It was a well-layered dish with just enough cheese to be cheesy, but not to make soggy, and plenty of fresh pico! Very nice.

We also had a sandwich. I can't remember which sandwich we got, but I remember it was nice. Soft, hearty bread, a simple amount of tasty ingredients, and a giant pickle spear to set it all off the right way. Great sandwich.

Overall, I got exactly what I expected out of this place, and it delivered at a five star level. I'm glad I know of this place now, for whenever I'm prowling around...

Quick visit only for a pint and an appetizer, but 5 stars.

My friend and I found ourselves here after a recent local event, waiting for a ride. So we really just ended up here instead of planning to visit, but I'm glad it happened that way.

The place is, if you couldn't already tell, a pub with pub-style food. Now, sometimes the pub part is great, but the food is kind of a let down. Not here.

We only had 1 round of drinks and the cheese curd appetizer - it was fantastic. I was actually surprised how good it was. That's not an off-hand complement - I expected pub food and I got something much better.

The place was starting to get busy and it's not super big, so I can see it being a bit difficult to find a place to sit more than 5 people in a party. But with just the two of us, we found a long table outside that only had a couple sitting at one end.

It was really nice - I'd like to see it on a Friday or Saturday night. It seems like a place that can easily handle the weekend-night crowd.

So if your looking for a cool place, with delicious beer and excellent appetizers, or your goal in life is to visit every place who's name reminds you of 'Fast Times and Ridgemont High', this is your place. "That was my skull!"

5 stars - planning on going back and...

They dont have most of what's advertised, whoever the receptionist is today, need not answer the phone , she had no time to listen and understand the concern of what customers or seeing on the menu only to be told we do t have it. Then ask if I'm sure I called the right place, my shop is next door. To the owner, you were not on the call to hear and realize she did not want to listen to what I as a customer have to say about what’s being advertised in your site, attitude begot attitude, she cut me off first , I support your business my clients and barbers do also, I we have a right to query what’s being advertised without being cut off and rushed because it’s happy hour. Why don’t you train your servers to be more receptive and professional first and foremost regardless? Since you rem me , do you know tho we order pick up we still tip your servers? I respond to how I was treated. We’ve been very supportive of your business from the days of it opening few days a weeks till now it’s open full time. To have your server speak and respond to me as such is not accepted. Maybe you should consider have your calls recorded. Considering the fact she ask me if I called the...

Spectacular experience overall. First of all, the atmosphere was very laid back, not too crowded, and very comfortable. The service was top notch (had a spectacular waitress that steered me in the right direction on multiple occasions for my beer choices and food selection. Also, she was very attentive and super friendly, and the guy that helped out was also great). There is a great beer selection from bottles to multiple local taps. Both the food and beer were very reasonably priced. Finally, the food was extremely high quality flavor for very little impact on the wallet (tried 4 out of the 6 tacos with great depths of flavor on the four variations of meat I consumed and the jalapeno Mac & cheese was more than worth the $1.99 price of admission, which is in contrast to soany other Mac n cheese letdowns out there). The only thing I had that wasn't a revelation in flavor was the Cadbury mini egg cupcake (great concept but the execution of chocolate cake and vanilla icing left a little to be desired). In short, I will certainly be back on my next trip to Orlando to try some of the other intriguing menu items and get further recommendations on great beer. Highly recommended.

With my new job downtown this has quickly become my favorite new spot. First the view, (sunset over the lake) then the food. The happy hour is a great price, but you have to like the limited selection of drinks in it to benefit. The menu is a good size and they have a unique and TASTY twist on bar food. They are also brave enough to toss their can into the home brew race producing their own. All of this with an amazing staff bringing it together. It lost a star because this HAD ti be installed by a man. You may not be able to tell, but this is RIGHT next to your face. The bar sits on the footprint of a delicious old restaurant famous for its breakfast. My hope is with the renovations this will be addressed so it can get the 5 stars it truly deserves.
