BLACK CURLY HAIR WOMEN BEWARE!!!
I took a few hours to feel my feelings and I’m ready to share. I walked out of this salon and cried in my car for at least 20 mins right in front of the salon. Let’s get the pros out of the way as there are a few small ones and I’ll dive into the cons. I specifically booked this visit to attend a very important dinner to pitch my idea to a possible investor.
Service requested. -balayage face framing + blowout and trim on naturally kinky-curly hair. Note: money pierces previously lightened and hair was in a grown out balayage.
Left salon with -very curls, a botched dye/lift experience, no blowout and no trim. -wet curls
Pros -Very nice salon and very friendly staff -my colorist seemed very experienced and attentive to my request. -At various points of the 5+ hours I was there I was offered beverages and refreshments.
Cons -I asked for my money piece to be a differ r color, more neutral than warm, and my hair was lifted almost white — which in my very limited knowledge was extremely unnecessary. It took HOURS of sitting under a heater, foil checks for processing stage from staff, and I only had maybe at most 15-20 in the top portion of my head.
-the toning step was an absolute nightmare. They did a great job with the root smudge but my hair was so ashy and my curls were so damage they resembled loose thread on a garment.
-while waiting for my bleach foils to finish processing the reception (front desk) lady came over to tell me that there was no longer room in the budget for my blowout and trim for the day. I understand things happen but telling me this after HOURS of processing a minimal number of foils and rotating me between staff is utterly unacceptable. Especially since I had an important meeting to attend presentably (no I did not disclose my meeting and that should t determine if I get what was promised when I paid a deposit). -As If the coloring experience was f traumatic enough. I was brought to a chair in the corner by the lovely shampoo lady and she asked me if I wanted to diffuse my curls or she can do it for me. I do not wear my colors in it’s curly state and that’s why I requested a blowout. Poor lady with no knowledge of curly hair began to scrunch a palm size amount of product into my hair and she went to attach the diffuser nozzle to the blow dryer. Her In experience was blatant and I quickly asked her to give me the blow dryer and possibly a comb attachment to help me do a quick simple blowout on my hair myself. She helped as much as she could. -story gets worse. This is where I learned how over processed my hair was. All the areas that were foiled so so white and ashy I almost vomited as I noticed my appearance in the mirror. I quick paused blow dryer my own hair and tried to find the lady who was helping me so I could get my toner shade changed. -staff said no problem we’ll fix it. Much appreciated.
Noting how close I was to my early dinner with my possible investor. After correcting the toner I just decided to leave with my hair wet. I ran into the bathroom and use the clip to fineness my hair as much as I could so I wouldn’t be late for my dinner.
I walked to the front to checkout and I was charged only for the color service. My hair is one step away from breaking off, services were not provided, and I still walked out pay $175~ (that’s with a 20% tip), sopping, wet hair, and my confidence in hell. No distinction of my money piece from the rest of my hair and the pieces from the foil are so straight and damage. 😭😭😭
I would’ve even have this people dye my dog’s hair!
Excuse me while I ugly cry and try to drag my confidence back from hell.
A refund is in order and a proper apology. I can’t believe a black manager and black receptionist let another black women walk out that salon...
Read moreI highly recommend this place if you enjoy having your appointments requested all time time, gaslighting colorists, 7+ hours in uncomfortable chairs, and still leaving the salon with splotchy hair. At least with all the reschedulings I would still have good looking hair at the end of the day, but if I am getting rescheduled and leaving with hair I can't stand to look at, I'm done. They only have one good colorist, Joanie. The others are clueless and doesn't communicate/listen to you or say they talked to Joanie, when clearly they didn't. This time I was getting my big maintenance appointment, they put me with Roxy after rescheduling my OG appointment and no one else was available. I wanted my ombré to be moved up to no higher than my eyes and don't color my roots or grays. I couldn't tell how far up she was going with the bleach due to my angle, but as it turns out, she brought it up in some place within an inch of my scalp. When it was time to add the gloss, it was supposed to be done dry, but they insisted it was wet 'they cleared it through Joanie' and it wasn't Roxy who added the color, it was the assistant. While I was getting my ends colored, guess what they did, color my roots for a center part! After I finished processing and they washed my hair, I went to go sit for a hair cut, upon him going through my hair, found there were many blonde spots, splotchy patches, and this is when I found out how high she did make it in my hair. He finishes the preliminary cut on my hair and off to the washing bowl again I go. This time they have the senior assistant color my hair and then they color more of my roots and grays to try bringing the purple down all over my head. They wash my hair again, I go to get my hair dried. This is when I was informed that I was right about the color always applied dry by Joanie, so doesn't seem that anyone talked to her at all. Then low and behold, as one of the assistants is drying my hair and we find blonde/lavender pieces of hair that was missed in the first and second processes. Back to the washing bowl for the third time, this time it was more of spot coloring processing instead of the whole thing. They wash my hair once more, and back to the hair dryer I go again. Wet hair all looks the same, especially when it's dark, so as they are drying my hair, I'm noticing chunks of my hair is a completely different shade from the rest of my hair. I have been at this salon for 7+ hours, the stylist said that they can try correcting the hair again and that it's because of my gray hair. I have gray hair strands, not chunks of gray, that wasn't the cause, but that's what she and 'Joanie' decided even though, Joanie hadn't seen my hair at all! After so long and so many recolorings, I did not want to risk a 4th with Roxy at all. I got my hair dried, hair detailed, tied up my hair since I couldn't stand to look at it anymore, paid, and left. Even this morning, I'm looking in the mirror and still can see where the front part of my hair is off color, parts of my hair looks like it wasn't recolored at all, and the coloring is still too high. It’s been three days and you can clearly see where the color didn’t take where it was bleached, can’t stand to look at it. Once again, if you are into disappointment, you have to book an appointment, then when they reschedule it, book...
Read moreI was a long term client (maybe 5 or so years) who always went to the same person. I decided to get one of the most expensive treatments done, the GK “The best” keratin treatment, along with a hair dye. My hair was already in very good shape, and it was very long. My hair color was blue black and I had less than a cm of grey along my temples. They first dyed my hair, then put the treatment on. My first red flag was when someone came and specifically told me it washed off a bit from my roots, and that they would need to redye it. Thank god I asked to use the restroom, because about 2 or 3 inches of my roots were actually bleached a red brown color. If it was washed out, it would have been black, not a completely different color. I went back to the chair in shock, and had another person try to ask me to come back the next day to get it fixed. I said absolutely not and asked to have it fixed that day. I was shocked they even asked me, it looked awful! Up to this point, my hair had been wet and had dye or was covered. I noticed after the cut and dry, my scalp looked very shiny in spots but was stained with black dye. I pointed it out and said it looks like patches of my hair is missing, and was told no it’s fine several times. This wasn’t true, and I did have several patches of hair missing on my scalp on the top of my hair. I feel like maybe a third of my hair was lost. Patches of my hair also remained brown. It was such an awful experience. I had paid and left, so I called the manager, sent photos, and was offered a refund. It wasn’t until after, they informed me if I do get a refund I can no longer be a client. What a final slap in the face after what they did to me. I wasn’t considering returning but they definitely made the decision for me. I should have called a lawyer, but at this point I want nothing to do with anyone at this awful company. Hope this helps the next person considering...
