I am editing my previous review after using the warranty services through costco. We bought a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator about 1.5 years ago and this year it died. We initiated a request through warranty services. Fast forward more than a month later to today's date and we have yet to receive confirmation that the unit was being replaced within the 15 business days that were promised. This was after it took 2 weeks for a repairman and them after the repairman " broke" the unit and made it irreparable. Costco decided to wash their hands of the issue and place the blame in the hands of Samsung to replace the unit based on warranty. Samsung tried to give us money but only to use through their website, where prices were significantly higher than Costcos website. It took me calling Costco 3 times to complain before they nudged Samsung after Samsung forgot about the ticket for our replacement fridge. We are now waiting for a mystery date for an unknown delivery person to send a new fridge in the middle of a work day that I cannot plan for ahead of time. The worst part, we are getting a replacement fridge with the exact unit that broke rather than Costco redeeming us and letting us pick a replacement. I guess we will need a new fridge in about 1.5 years. I usually love Costco and use them frequently, but find this entire process completely exhausting. I don't think I'll be using then again for appliances. Update to March 7th, there is no update from Costco or Samsung to deliver or refund a refrigerator. We have gone another 7 days without any contact to get our replacement and as time goes on, it seems unlikely that Samsung will honor delivering the unit. Avoid warranties through Costco...
Read moreI was very disappointed during several shopping episodes at your store. I am an executive member cardholder for the past several years at your store. I was simply looking for some fresh produce which any shopper does. I was nicely going through the produce and choosing what I felt was what I wanted. I gathered the produce I wanted and went on to shop for some other items. I was then questioned regarding my actions in the produce section by an employee. I was dumbfounded by this interaction as I did not know as a shopper in any store that I am not allowed to choose what I want. I am the consumer and I am going to pick out the items I want. And certainly when it comes to produce I am going to be choosy as I want the produce to last as long as it can to feed my family. I dont want what looks like decaying produce ie fruits, vegetables. If I wanted these I could go to another store where it is labeled as older produce and I then am informed and can make an informed decision. This goes for the same with bakery products. I think it is up to the consumer on any product and as the owner of their finances to choose what products I want whether this be clothing, food, gas etc. I was upset to say the least over this encounter and now I feel some trepidation in even coming back because I worry if I will be stopped again. This does not make for a pleasant shopping experience especially as one spends 150.00 to maintain a membership at your store. Here is a suggestion, label the outdated or older products so the shopper then has the ability to choose if they want the...
Read moreThis is the second negative experience I’ve had at the Costco in Kalamazoo.
The first time, I entered the store like any other paying member, selected my items, and proceeded to checkout. Without reason, the cashier questioned whether I had a valid membership despite the fact that Costco requires members to present their cards at the entrance. He made a scene and forced me to verify my membership again, as if I had somehow bypassed security.
Today, the same thing happened. I had to pull up my digital card and present my driver’s license just to prove I was who I said I was. It was humiliating and deeply degrading. I say this sincerely: I am incredibly thankful for my growth and healing, because the old version of me would have reacted very differently. Instead, I calmly told the employee I no longer wished to do business with him and requested to speak with the store manager who I was told was on vacation.
The assistant manager came down, and instead of attempting to de-escalate or offer any genuine customer service, he said (and I quote): “Let’s ring her up and get her going.” I took that to mean: get her out of the store. No apology. No concern. No professionalism.
After the transaction, I went straight to Customer Service and canceled my membership on the spot. I will be returning to Sam’s Club, where I’ve been a member for seven years without ever being treated like this.
To anyone considering where to spend their money think twice. I did not feel welcome at Costco. And that message was...
