I don't usually write reviews.. BUT PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! I had a piece that I was looking to get rid of and I KNEW it was was valuable, but not 100% how valuable. I emailed first, then followed up with a call and then a visit into the store. Email was short conversations, but the call was more detailed and informative (so I thought). I went for the visit, and first thing I asked was if the person remembered my call, and they confirmed. I showed them the piece, that we had already discussed in detail, and ALL OF A SUDDEN my piece was a not a good piece.ALL of a sudden there were a million reasons why this piece was not as valuable as "I wanted" it to be - so the guy kept telling me. After telling me, for two days, he was a fair guy and would offer me a fair offer - he initially offered over $400... when I asked if that was his best offer, he paused, and offered me $250. From there he made it a point to keep telling me just to take the cash and put it toward something else. I explained that I KNEW the gold itself was worth more than that and I am basically giving you the diamonds for free (after being shorted on the value of the gold already). He kept telling me just to take the cash and let the bracelet go... it wasn't valuable. I told him I wanted to get an appraisal and of course he said "you'll be wasting your money". WHAT??? Anybody in their right mind would know that you need to know the value of your product before you can negotiate - so for him to say an appraisal was a waste, and he's a "jeweler", didn't sit well with me. I explained to this guy, Carlos, that I wasn't hard up for money so I wasn't in a rush to just "sell" my piece - especially not for something so insulting. After I left there I went straight to another private gemologist except this time I only asked for an appraisal. GOT my piece back today, with the completed appraisal, and my instinct was accurate - Carlos was trying his hardest to get this piece for a reason... the appraisal value was close to $10k... I felt like they were trying to befriend me just to gain my trust so the "scam" was easier for them... that...
Read moreWent to this local precious metals store with the goal of building a relationship and maybe even getting a new silver bar or two. Instead, I got a masterclass in how not to treat a customer. The guy behind the counter was so rude I almost forgot I was there to buy silver, not audition for a an episode of Punkd. When I asked to browse the bin of unorganized 1oz silver bars, he responded with, “just tell me which one you want to see.” Uh, buddy, if I knew which one I wanted, I wouldn’t be asking to look at the whole bin!
I mentioned I was new to stacking silver and wanted to support local business, but he clearly took that as a cue to give me the cold shoulder. Then he casually drops that he could put together an order for me to get me “deals” but only if I threw down $10,000 — because apparently, that’s how you make a customer.
Mind you the silver was located next to a case of Invicta watches, so I wasn’t exactly expecting Sotheby’s, but I also wasn’t expecting to be treated like an inconvenience. Long story short: I’ll be sticking with the pawn shop — at least they know how to treat a customer without the attitude. Would not recommend unless you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience.
Post Script: I waited a few weeks to post this as I was literally just starting my silver investing journey. Since this visit I’ve purchased over 200oz. So not quite the $10k buyer- but not too far off. Your...
Read moreOnce I walked in. I knew I was at the wrong place. Me and my wife walked in, received a very smug “can I help you”. I was looking for a chain for a pendant but upon meeting the guy I decided maybe not the first thing I should ask for. Decided to see what offers I can get on my scrap gold I’ve collected.
This man was so smug about my scrap gold and threw my pieces around the glass counter as if my time and gold was worthless. I understand I won’t get market value for scrap gold. The utter disrespect and audacity this man had. I stayed polite and knew letting emotions would ruin a business opportunity. So I asked questions on the gold, silver coins that I seen coming in. If they can polish up a pendant I had. Asked if they had a chain for my pendant.
Every response was a dead end and this man took every opportunity to tell me how everything I asked was “not what I needed”.
So after a low ball offer on my 20g of 14k and 10g of 10k. (Offered me 12$ a gram for all of it.) I politely grabbed my stuff and went elsewhere.
Keep in mind previous store offered me 15$ just for the 10k.
Went in to buy and sell. Walked out...
