I got engaged right after Valentine's Day and thought Asilomar would be the perfect setting for my wedding. After approximately 500 emails back and forth with the event planning staff, my patience was lost. They seem to lack basic customer service skills and organization. I had to request a list of available beverages even several times which they should send without asking along with the option for anything else not listed. It seems like they just want to take your money and rely solely on the scenic location to compensate for the gross neglect overall. At check-in, I was given room 217 which had broken tiles in the bathroom as well as a housekeeping cart parked outside of our door for both nights. When I notified the front desk about this, they sent maintenance over and they glued the towels to the tile! The shower had thick black grime all over too. When we went to prepare our reception venue, none of tables were set-up as promised and many of the chairs were damaged. The curtain rods did not function either. The planner told me my mother was in the wrong venue which was not true at all even and previously presented us with a diagram of the tables which did not fit properly in the space so I had to figure out the placement and seating at the eleventh hour which was not ideal. The golf cart did pick me up from Room 217 to take me to the chapel on the day of the wedding and I when I saw the planner just before the ceremony, I asked if my room could have fresh linens and be cleaned. I was told that they were working on it at that same moment, but later returned to a room with trash-filled bins and the dirty towels still in a pile. When I requested extra blankets, they were sitting on a chair in a large trash bag. The golf cart never returned to take me from the chapel to Nautilus leaving me hiking up the hill in heels with my husband holding my veil so I would not trip. For some reason, the guest count was 30 and the food for dinner was enough to feed 100 so lots of the leftovers ended up in the garbage which was completely wasteful. The planner left before the cake cutting and only a spatula was available. Thankfully, the photographers I hired helped me serve the cake. Lastly, the CEO sent me a generic email addressed: Dear, requesting feedback with a broken link so I am leaving my feedback here. I am not sure if Aramark is having some serious financial problems or expecting the location to distract from the lack of care that goes on behind the scenes. Regardless, it is unacceptable and not worth the time, money and headache. Lastly, ownership only seems to acknowledge positive reviews and refuses to address any valid negative reviews; it is shameful. As someone that also works in property management and recipient of consecutive awards in outstanding customer service I find this pathetic. Check out the YELP reviews to read others with similar experiences that also visited recently. Choose elsewhere.

When you stay here, you're paying for the location and not much else. The surroundings are wonderful, nestled between Pacific Grove and Asilomar State Beach. If you're a nature lover, you won't be disappointed by the locale. However, that's basically where the charm ends unless you're into retro kitsch. You can tell this place is run by the government. The staff is friendly, but they make a lot of mistakes. They mixed up the gluten-free sandwiches with the regular ones until someone at the conference realized it and alerted the staff, who didn't say a word to anyone else at the conference. They basically left it to us to sort it out ourselves. They just don't seem to care. The rooms are a huge crap-shoot regarding what you'll get. Some folks at the conference got nice, modern, newly renovated rooms while others (like me) got rooms that look like they haven't seen a single update since 1975. No TV, no A/C, no mini-fridge, no coffee maker, and no phone! Luckily, the WiFi worked pretty well. Mold in the Brady Bunch era shower, a noisy Thermador wall heater, and nylon curtains and musty carpet that were probably already outdated by the end of the Carter Administration. Not to mention all the peeling and chipped paint all over the room and the filthy window that almost ruined the ocean view. Be prepared to take a shower at 6AM if you want steady hot water. Had to keep adjusting the mixer to battle the water temperature that constantly fluctuated from ice cold to blazing hot throughout my shower at 7:30AM. However, the bed was pretty comfy and my room had a nice view of the ocean, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. All in all, a beautiful, quiet locale, but way overpriced for what you get. It's like staying at a Travelodge on the beach and should be priced accordingly.

Let’s begin with the location, it’s absolutely stunning due to mins access to the beach and a lot of greenery. You could also visit Monarch Butterfly sanctuary, 17 mile drive, pebble beach, Monterey aquarium in a short while. The breakfast served there was good and fresh however the lunch wasn’t fresh or tasty. There were limited options and wouldn’t recommend it. The Rooms need some renovation for sure especially the ones in historic buildings, I can’t stress that enough. The I stayed last time was manzanita and that was pretty good with all the facilities you need including refrigerator but no tv or any such additional gadgets. The room I stayed this time was Lodge, and it was not good at all for many reasons like the curtains were stained, the sink is in the room, the windows were facing the walkway and entrance so I couldn’t even open them, it was stuffy and there was no AC, it came with two twin beds (beds were comfy) on a flimsy iron bed frame, and the bathroom was extremely small and not well cleaned. So make sure pick and choose your rooms, avoid all historic buildings. You have plenty of space to explore and walk around, you could hear the ocean from Most of the rooms which is nice, and many public spaces available both indoors and outdoors to just hangout, play some board games. The main hotel lobby has a couple of pool tables, piano, board games and cafeteria. There are ranger guided tours available so check with them if you are interested. Overall, I would recommend this place for location and vibe but choose better rooms and explore restaurants around.

Let’s start out positive. The grounds are beautiful. Location is great. And we went from 115 weather to 60, so overall we were happy. We are used to camping in a pop up trailer in Bodega, so our room was about as comfortable as our old Coleman trailer, just filthy. Upon checking in, I should have just walked out when I noticed the amount of hair in and around the sinks. I just wiped them and thought that maybe they fell from the cleaners. I was tired. Then I took a shower in dingy, moldy, rusty, shower and noticed there was a used, wet, towel hanging from the door. That’s when it really dawned on me that the room was likely not cleaned thoroughly. Throughout our stay there was a smell. Like a sour funk that was so gross. At first I thought it was from the sinks that backed up and bubbled up a bunch of gunk, see pics, but the smell stuck around. By the last night it was gag worthy and thanks to the dank smell if the shower room, hard to place. Well, we had waited until check out day to have the garbage changed because we hadn’t used it much. I took the bag out and as you can see in the picture, there was curdled something in the bottom. It was so bad after being unearthed that I had to wash it in the shower before we could pack up more. Also the screen door was just propped against the sliding glass door when we got there. I put it in the track but it fell out constantly. As for staff response, one woman was apologetic. Another man was very dismissive when we asked him any questions about our stay (not the issues I mentioned).
