We were RV camping in the Carmel Valley, and we brought along our own ebikes. But when it came time for us to do the 17 mile drive on bikes, we decided we wanted a guided tour. So we found Big Sur Adventures and booked online. Simple enough.... On arrival - come early to get set up, we met our guide for the day - Flo... don't ya know. Flo got us outfitted with helmets, gloves, water, and snacks...all included. There were a row of nice white step-thru Aventon ebikes ready at the curb, but Flo offered to let us have the choice of any ebikes in the shop...don't ya know. My wife grabbed a AIMA Santa Monica because of the cushy seat, and I picked an Aventon fat tire model, because I hadn't ridden a fat tire ebike before. We received an orientation with the ebikes of our choice, some pointers and training, and we were ready to roll. We had a couple of newbies in the group, but they caught on quickly - after all you're still riding a bicycle, you're just not pedaling hard. Flo - don't ya know, was very knowledgeable, and answered our questions about the otters, winged oystercatchers, deer and natural vegetation, and gave us an explanation of why Monterey has such cool weather. You'll have to take the ride with Flo, to get that information...don't ya know. We had time for rest breaks, photos, and a walk to the 18th green at Pebble Beach GC. I believe the entire group had a good day. All you gotta do is go online to reserve a time, and then go,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to preface by saying while Im writing this review in march of 2023, I did the bike tour in November of 2022. While visiting my sister in California we stopped at Monterey for a few days and decided to do this 17 mile bike tour. Easily the best part of the two week trip was this tour, it was absolutely beautiful biking the coast around Monterey just before sunset. Our tour guild Flow, who I fully recommend asking for, took us around the 17 mile trail taking in the scenic views while explaining the fauna, animals, and natural beach and rock formations of the area. He even detoured us to the butterfly migration forest patch when we asked to take in the monarch butterfly flutters in the tree groves. We were able to see some wildlife on the rock formations such as seals and various types of birds and we even were able to stop and hold a live star fish which is surprisingly cold and hard from what we expected a living creature would be. The tour itself was amazing but the bikes were so much fun to drive around on. You can use as little or as much power assist as you want making the ride very relaxed and invigorating. I fully recommend anyone staying in the Monterey area to do this tour, its so much fun and relaxing. If I could I would give more than 5 stars! Next time Im in the area Im...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been out with them twice now, October 2023 and 2024. It was fantastic. I did guided tours both times and each guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about local history. I did the Family Friendly tour of Monterey and the beaches in 2023 with my sisters and did the 17 mile drive tour (beaches and Pebble Beach Golf Course) with my best friend in 2024. We were all brand new to e-biking. Both times, the staff were very friendly and helpful. They make sure the bike is comfortable and the seat is properly adjusted before you head out. They also give you an overview of how to use the e-bike and have you do a quick test run before you head out. The bikes have saddle bags on them so you can bring a water bottle, extra layers or snacks. They provide helmets and gloves. This was very beginner friendly and was a relaxing way to explore the local beaches without having to worry about parking a car on tight roads. I recommend bringing sunglasses even if itās overcast as the ocean mist in your eyes could sting as you bike. We were all able-bodied people in our 30-40s, but they do have some step through bikes available for people with hip issues. Highly recommend and I plan to go out with them again on my next...
