Eden SPA — Attraction in Palo Alto

I came on a Monday morning, she said they had openings "right now" so i got there 10 min later. Their front desk sign says they have 60 min for $50 unless you want deep then $60. I said just the regular as deep hurts me. She questioned me 3x about getting the deep one instead. I politely said no thank you. She charged me the $50 before we even started. I went to room which was unfortunately really cold, was not easy to relax. She comes in and 15 min in says she'll do deep massage and i can just tip more. Ive worked in customer service 9 years and never flat out asked or expected tip before i completed the service. Obviously i would have given but i also didn't ask for deep tissue multiple times. She abruptly left the room FOUR times without saying anything to answer people coming into the store. Was she the only worker?! That's so unprofessional to leave mid massage and her hands were freezing every time she came back. I work in healthcare and it's impossible to get a day off. I just wanted to relax but def couldn't. After that she took me to front and asked how much tip i was leaving. I told her i wasnt happy but would 20%anyway out of courtesy. She asked if it's ok if she charges me more. I said no please charge the amount i said. She typed in more. I said no, it's either 20% or im leaving without tipping. She said it was very busy that's why she kept leaving. I said you told me you had time and clearly you're more worried about money. So she charged me tip when honestly i didn't want to pay a dime. Never ever coming again, horrid service. Went for a couples massage on Memorial Day. Tried to go at 1 but they asked us to go at 12 saying earlier is better. Place was clean and nice enough on the inside. They asked us to pay for the massage up front, which we did. The massage itself was decent. My masseuse seemed to be the running the desk as well as giving the massage and left 3 or 4 times to answer the door. Then after the time was up, they tried to sell us on extending our time there. Thought they said another 40 mins would be $17 but it was unclear if it was $17 or $70. We ended up trying it and it was indeed $70, $10 off the half hour price for two. Would have been nice to have someone else work the desk during the massage and not trying to do the car salesman thing at the end....

Staff members were very unprofessional. We had a couples massage in the same room and the staff members constantly made comments and uncomfortable remarks on our bodies. We awkwardly laughed it off. Not only were we unable to relax for the massage, we were extremely uncomfortable.

Another issue is something other reviewers also left comments about. The staff member would leave the room for a while and we were confused as to what was going on.

After the 60 minutes of agony, we wanted to tip 15% (which seemed fair despite the terrible experience). We were practically not allowed to leave and were forced into tipping 30%...
