These discounts must be based off of Cali prices. Higher than Dave's AND Giant Eagle. ACTUALLY, I've gotten better deals at those stores. Look at the prices in the photos of other reviews. They had a bag of Christmas candy still priced at $10.99. The prices weren't even sale prices, but higher. Not even comparable to other stores in the area. The few things that were discounted expired very soon. They clearly didn't do their homework. Why would I shop there when Dollar General is right next door, Marc's, Aldi, Giant Eagle right around the corner, and Walmart right up the road. What were they thinking? Those 5 star reviews are lies and obviously they are affiliated with the company. They wasted money moving here bc unless they lower the prices, they won't last a year!
UPDATE: 3/10 Decided to take another look. Store clean and orderly. I'll attach some pics. Great deals on some name brands that weren't close to expiration. Even got 3 grass fed steaks for $10. Not sure if it's a fluke but I'll Def be going again. Still not an "Outlet", but comparable to other discount stores in the area. Maybe they read the reviews.
UPDATE 6/22: I am now a regular. I've been back several times and the prices on many many items can't be beat! When I'm in the area I visit Marc's, Giant Eagle, and Aldi. Grocery Outlet has them beat on lots of items. Some times they are a Lil slow removing expired items from the shelf so Check dates. Employees always readily available and willing to find...
Read moreDon’t get me wrong-the store is nice looking, they have a lot of products. But if you’re a “discount” grocery store…which is what everyone was looking forward to-the “discount” grocery store prices…how in the H*LL are you charging prices that are higher than the chain stores like Giant Eagle (which is one of the priciest stores around here)?! As I was standing in line and chatting with people, they all said the same thing-“Where’s the discounts?”
Why are you charging those ridiculous prices for groceries that are almost at the expiration date that came from other stores? If I’m going to pay that much, I might as well go to those other stores and the food would be fresh.
I read that the owners are from California-this isn’t California! This area is filled with seniors and families on limited/fixed incomes, and you want people to do their grocery shopping there? How can they afford it? I’d rather spend my money at Aldi, at least I’d get a lot more value. Most of the people I see there didn’t have full grocery carts. No one was actually “grocery shopping”. I don’t see this store doing well or being here for very long. The owners better wake up and actually care about their customers instead of their greed, because once the hype of the new store dies down and people realize they’re being ripped off with those ridiculous prices, they won’t have very...
Read moreFor vegans, grocery outlet is really fun to shop and I always leave excited about what I found. They will have things you've never seen anywhere else, including whole foods. It's true that the shelves, pricing and registers are a little chaotic but that's how outlets are and I think many bad reviewers are missing the point of the store. The prices are so low because they were sold items that the distributor didn't want, ie about to expire, changed packaging, even damaged but still safe to use. It also means that the shelves, items and stickers are constantly changing, which is a lot of work by the way. It's a fun place to stop in and see what they have, especially if you cook based on what's available to you instead of a meal plan. If you're not into that, you can shop full price at the four other grocery stores within a mile radius, no hard feelings. They just opened as well and are probably still figuring out the staffing. I definitely...
