Walking into Gyro George in Parma feels less like entering a restaurant and more like bothering the employees. The staff consistently acts disinterested and irritated, making it clear that customers are an inconvenience rather than the reason they have a job.
Then there’s the pricing—nearly $30 for two gyros and one fry? What an absolute rip-off. If you’re going to charge premium prices, at least provide decent service, a clean dining space, and a meal that isn’t impossible to eat on the go.
Speaking of the dining area—good luck sitting down. Despite having a large dining room, the lights are off, and you’re clearly expected to leave. Not that you’d want to stay, considering the place looks more like a Facebook garage sale than a restaurant. Random junk is scattered everywhere, making the whole atmosphere feel rundown and unwelcoming. Maybe if they focused on running a restaurant instead of hoarding yard sale rejects, they’d have more customers.
As for the food—the gyro was fine, flavor-wise. But good luck eating it. They cram an overstuffed gyro into the smallest pita imaginable, so if you planned to eat in your car, forget it. The wrap falls apart instantly, making a complete mess. Maybe they’re charging extra for the frustration.
Overall, this place is a joke, and so is the service. If you like being treated like an inconvenience, overpaying for food, and navigating a cluttered, uninviting dining space, then by all means, stop by. Otherwise, take your money somewhere that actually wants your business.
Edit: this WAS my old review. Its a shame this place has gotten this bad
"This place is awesome and the lady serving us (the owner I assume?) was spectacular. Super friendly. definitely recommend and will come back for more CRAZY HUGE portions! Reasonable prices for a serious amount of food. The other 2 gyro places I looked for today were closed ON SUNDAY! that's just dumb, but great news for George bc we can't come out...
Read moreI will chime in with the people who speak of rude people behind the counter who tell us, "I've worked all day, no more food today." After hyping up this place based on some of the other reviews and the look of the menu, we took an out of town friend here on a Sunday--just after 12pm. There were two other people in the place and they were finishing their meals. The menu said Breakfast anytime. We were in the mood for breakfast and were discussing how good the food looked and smelled as we waited at the counter for someone to take our order. We waited. And waited. And waited. There were 3-4 people behind the counter and in the kitchen, some just standing around, some just wandering around literally moving trays of glasses from spot to spot. Finally the man who was preparing a Gyro order to go turned to us and said, "I've worked all day, no more food today." and went back to carving the Gyro. We looked at each other in confusion, then guessed maybe he was joking--bad joke, but you know. We smiled and waited some more. He then pointedly turned away from us and never said anything else. The lady behind the counter slowly started putting together a meal in a Styrofoam box, never looking at us, never coming over. Finally another man came over to the counter where we were standing and set his tray of glasses in front of us, glanced at us and walked away. That's when we decided they WEREN'T kidding and that they had just lost some VERY good customers. We walked out and proceeded to spend close to $40 between us at IHOP--then tipping in the neighborhood of 30-50% on top of that. Gyro...
Read moreMy sister and I was told that only breakfast is being served and we had to order on kiosk. About 10-15 later another patron walked in and went to the register and his order was taken.. He ordered a burger and fries. We weren’t able to order lunch. 25-30 minutes later we se that the man that came in after us got his food and left. I went to inquire about our food and was told very rudely to be patient. After that the food came after another 10 minutes with the container wide open. No one else food was open. We asked for a refund and was told that because the order was placed on the kiosk and she don’t know anything about it.. I find it hard to believe that and she works there. I then asked for a number to call to speak with someone about the service and receiving our refund, she said she don’t have a number she is just the help.. well the help was very rude and not nice to us and I am wondering if it was because we were the only African American in there… we just...
