(Trust me and read to the end)First time coming here, and I found it based on its reasonable prices and good ratings. However, upon arriving to the theater, me and my husband could tell right away that the place is very old and dirty. I wanted to keep a positive attitude because it was our first time going out to watch a movie in probably 4-5 months. The seats were very dirty & some even ripped. The arms rests were filthy, cup holders had trash in them. And most were covered in sugary/sticky soda. The seats were also very small & narrow. My arms didn’t fit when I tried to relax them. The floors were also dirty/sticky. The screen was too high up & the seats not elevated enough so our eyes+necks were in pain. We moved 1 row back for the sake of our vision/neck. However, I had to move again because my seat was completely broken. About 30-45 minutes into the movie, I saw something run under my eye. I look right away, & to my horror, I see a decent sized grey mouse 🐁! I jumped in my seat & grabbed my husband, so the mouse got scared & took off. Needless to say, I spent the rest of the movie starring at the floor on my right side to see if the mouse was going to come back! I couldn’t enjoy the movie, I was terrified. But I think this place is great for families/couples/single parents to come watch new movies on a budget. Because I paid $7.50 per ticket. So for struggling individuals, I think this is an amazing chance for them to enjoy the same movies for much cheaper. Which is wonderful because I know there are people out there who truly appreciate this opportunity & I'm so happy they get to enjoy this theater. On the other hand, if you’re someone who is a germaphobe, you’re going to hate this place. I’m an extreme germaphobe & being in this theater made my skin crawl & had me itching +scratching myself. I came home and threw everything I was wearing in the laundry. Additionally I sanitized everything else including my phone and purse. So take that into consideration. What’s more important to you: saving money or cleanliness? Personally for me, if I feel as though a place is not clean/sanitary, I’d rather rent a movie from Redbox & watch it at home. With all that being said, I hope this place continues to stick around because, again, I know there are families/individuals out there that can’t afford today’s outrageous movie theater prices. So this is a wonderful thing to have around. All in all, my review is not to be mean, but to be informative & truthful. That’s all. Hope this...
Read moreI went there last night with a couple of friends to see "Jumanji," which was hysterical, by the way. It was upstairs in one of two of their stadium theaters. I had no idea, previously, that they even had stadium seating theaters. That was very cool! Although, if you go all the way to the very back, the theater is so deep, that the screen becomes kind of tiny. Any closer seat is better. The couple of reasons why I give it a 4-star, instead of a 5, is because, when we got there right before our movie, there was a slow-moving line out front for the box office, mainly because the box office was being manned by 1 slow guy. It would be a whole lot quicker if they had 2 people running the box office. We missed the Trailers, which was fine, and made it just in time for the start of the film. They have a policy on a sign on the box office window that says that they won't seat anyone for any film that is 20 mins already into it. They should take that down to maybe 10 mins, at the most, because when a loud group came through like a herd of elephants somewhere around 15-20 mins into the film, it was extremely disturbing, not only for the noise factor, but for the fact that the stadium is so deep, they step in the way of the film projecting on the screen, which puts shadows of them on the screen. It was pretty ridiculous any time people left and came back in, as well. People, if you enter late, or leave and come back in, stand in the side aisles until your eyes adjust, and you are able then, to find your seats quietly and quickly. Don't walk in the middle of the rows, and just stand there. There are actually people behind you who are trying to enjoy the film, as...
Read moreLet’s see. Not only was the Academy 6 my first place of gainful employment, but I was a customer for 25 years, until this weekend! You lost my business and my partner too. We don’t like that even though we visited Twice this weekend, both times we were made to feel singled out and harassed. After all this time. Her purse was asked to be searched for what?! I can’t imagine….. except that She’s Hispanic and the employee was a young white guy that asked her and he did not ask anyone else to see their purse….. Hmm, Okay. When he asked we both felt confused and insulted. There was no cause for asking us to do that. No explanation either. It seems we were singled out. But why??? Sunday we came back and nobody was asked to open any bags. Double standard. We watched as She noticed the previous night no one else was subject to a personal search. Overall, a Foreboding feeling from staff in general, same guy had to bother us Sunday and ask us to take our feet down. He Came twice!!!!! Then another guy in a white shirt came with a flash light and checked something on the ground for no reason. If I were your company I would not be PICKING on your guests. I don’t have to spend my money here and I won’t anymore. This type of racist crap is going to stop!!!! No other movie theaters, Regal, AMC, New Beverly Cinema, they don’t act like this. You should have more appreciation for your customers and maybe have an employee sensitivity training. It’s not ok to single people out for no good reason. This pattern we see is a passing phase. It will take care of itself, but people should know. I bet we...
