The food was good. The service was crap. I wish the woman at the register would have smacked her gum a little louder up front so I could really feel right at home. The food was good, but the online menu was not transparent at all and not easy to understand. So when I relayed it over the phone, my price of $28 and some change bounced up to $42 and some change. I put $43 on the counter and left. I've never been so unimpressed with a clerk in my life. Ever. Even the more mature women around me were gawking and apologizing to me. One even offered to pay for my meal. Says a lot about the community. I do appreciate you, Pellacans. My boyfriend said the soup was good. I think the dessert bar was good, but not worth the price. I know some can justify this spending, but we will make food at home next time. Thanks...

I am in Pella for my mother's cancer surgery and snuck away for an hour to grab some non-hospital food (and to gather my thoughts). I found myself at the Bread Board... I didn't realize they served not only food, but LOVE. This food tastes like my long gone grandmother's "love"- fresh ingredients, made with care. My tummy AND my heart were filled over the past two days with some of the most amazing soups and breads I've ever had in my life and I've traveled the world. THANK YOU for this refuge. This will be a regular stop for me every time I go through town- you can even get frozen quarts of soup TO GO! The chicken and wild rice is the best I've ever had. RUN, don't walk and buy...

My friend picked up my order from here for me. She eats there often. I love bread pudding so I thought I would try it from here. Sadly the quality and quanity was very disappointing. The size was 3" Sq and 1" High and really tasteless. The cream cheese icing was the best part of it. Even the bread didn't have flavor. It cost $6.00 for that tiny serving. I also ordered the mushroom and Swiss quiche, again tiny for $8.95. It was smaller than a pot pie size. More crust than filling. There was maybe 4 tbsp of filling. I think the prices are too high for the quality and quanity of their food. I won't be ordering...

The menu items sound amazing and they absolutely look amazing, but I would just say they're pretty good as far as taste goes. I love a locally owned place and I absolutely love Pella. The location you can't beat as it's right in the thick of downtown. They have plenty of options and it seems like everything is made and baked fresh. It's a perfect place for lunch. Lots of different types of seating to accommodate different groups. You can eat in or take out. I wouldn't call it absolutely stupendous and delicious but it's pretty good. We've gone twice and we're pretty underwhelmed as we had higher expectations.

I haven't eaten their bread yet. I saw it. I smelled it. I had to buy a couple loaves for my wife, the real bread lover between us. The setting was superb. Beautiful surroundings. Very welcoming. Loved the music! Service was helpful, speedy and pleasant. Based on the above and the apple Carmel scone I ate in no time, I predict the bread will be fantastic. If I lived in the region, I'd make a new habit here.

Trifecta of food, service and ambience! I've had chicken salad croissant, summer salad, incredible bread puddings, bakery goods. All awesome. The bakery will sell out almost every day so if that's your jam, get there early for best selection. The rosemary braid pictured is about 8" long and made of croissant dough. Wonderful!
