A great park for kids and adults. I've spent many hours of my dating life gazing at the falls. Especially, after it has rained and the water is high. People used to cime from out of state to visit this historical site. My dad even built, owned, and ran the original Shirley Veterinary Hospital seated perfectly North of the Falls. My family even donated a lot of beautiful land to the park for trails now mistly finished after he sold his practice in order to retire. I used to sit just inside the low A frame styled, all glass front of his animal hospital watching the rush of Fall creek over the Falls and over the wide dam after the Falls where there was once a swimming area with diving biards on each side of the Falls(boards are long gone). The park has a beautiful gazebo where many have been married including my bf! Its a great place to pick up and bring some food as there are many nooks here and there to enjoy a meal or your coffee/tea....
Read moreThe park is big and clean, the play area recently remodeled. Every one is friendly there and the play area is a quick walk to downtown where you can buy some ice cream. You can wade in the shallows of the river above the falls or walk the trails.
I've spent hours in this park. I've been up and down the trails, which are clean and carefully cleared. I've been wading in the creek, where the water is clean enough you can look for shells. I've spent hours in the play area, though not since it's been remodeled. There are plenty of fish in the pond if that's more your speed. I've had picnics and concerts and family cook outs, the trees provide some lovely shade. I've walked my dog around and let the kids pet him. It's really one of the hearts of the town.
It's a lovely park to play and relax at. It's even better with friends and family! Just don't chase the geese... They are the...
Read moreNice clean park. Has short trails, a pond with ducks and geese, has a small lighthouse in the center of the pond, has a water falls with a small bridge, and a water area by the falls on fall creek (that was dammed off and used as a swimming pool many years ago), picnic tables, outdoor benches, playground with restrooms, large shelter house, a gazebo, a running fountain, and an Indiana local museum. Great small town park where you can safely bring your kids to play, explore, and feed the ducks bread crumbs. Or you may simply walk your leashed dog around the park and on the trails. Cleaning up after your dog is mandatory by...
