I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone if it was the last place on earth you would have a better chance staying at a motel. We booked this hotel because it was one of the hotels recommended by the sports tournament we were attending, chose this hotel because it was pet friendly. Upon arriving at the hotel the halls were very humid and smelled like mildew. Upon entering our room it was ridiculously hot we called for service and they sent housekeeping who did her best to fix the problem but couldn’t because that wasn’t her specialty, after a few hours later the room was still as hot or even worse. We were finally moved to different room ac worked thankfully, but the smell was still there and it was a different building. The next day we needed service because the toilet was clogged when we tried calling from the room we found there was absolutely no dial tone we tried calling front desk from our cell phone and no one answered my husband walked all the way to the front desk only to be informed there was no one available and that if he wanted they could give him the equipment to fix what they needed to fix. Our hotel stay was from Thursday - Sunday on checkout day I requested a late checkout which was approved for 12pm my son had a game and the facility the game was held at does not allow pets I left my dog in the room as usual only to receive a text message from a complete stranger who wrote “u kinda forgot your dog” I immediately called the number and was informed they found my dog in the hotel hallway by the exit door. We immediately headed over to the hotel to find our dog was put back into our hotel room housekeeping was cleaning the room next to us and we asked her who had opened our room and she said she did! She was not apologetic and offered no explanation what so ever by this time front desk receptionist had made her way to us to find out what occurred and when we informed her the housekeeper told us she opened the room she had no words whatsoever and said she needed to go talk to the manager. We finished grabbing our dogs belongings and made our way to the front desk she was sitting there along with her manager was there. He could not offer an explanation other than they tried calling my room because there were guest complaining about the barking to which I informed him room phones were not working and why wasn’t I called on my cellphone. After that all he said was they were doing a wellness check however he’s not sure why housekeeping would open the door when wellness checks are done by managers only. Thankfully decent people came across my dog or who knows what would have happened! I have no words nothing but utter disgust. This hotel is outdated, dirty and way over priced, ceiling has mold in the bathroom all over. Complete highway robbery forget about walking on the carpet. The outside of the hotel and the pool area is full of nothing but spider webs and spiders and not small spiders either. We should have left the first night and eaten the penalty. Building code enforcement should inspect this hotel because this hotel is not suitable for anyone any living thing! THEY SHOULD CLOSE THIS FACILITY & YOUR STAFF SHOULD ALL BE RETRAINED! Only good thing I can say about this hotel is that it’s about 10 minutes from Cedar Point & is directly across this absolute wonderful Mexican restaurant. If I could give this place no...
Read moreMy friend and I got a suite with a king bed, it was a nice price while still being relatively close to Cedar Point. Every other place we saw closer to the park was around $60-$80 more than what we paid to stay on the Friday night that Halloweekends was starting at Cedar Point. Actually liked the location more since it was close to a lot more of the stores and restaurants Sandusky has to offer than the few lucky businesses that got prime real estate close to the hotels and the park. Was worried this place was gonna be kinda dirty as I saw a lot of cheaper hotels like this one get reviews with complaints of dirty carpeting or bugs in the A/C, but I'm happy to report this place isn't one of them. The bed was medium-firm and the pillows were nicer than the ones I use at home. Just a couple of little things that are making me rate this place 4 instead of 5 stars, though I still highly recommend this place to anyone planning to visit Sandusky. First, the bathroom setup was a little weird - light switch for the bathroom was right outside the doorway, sink was around the corner of the bathroom instead of in it (although I know it's common in hotels to have the sink outside the bathroom) - but not so strange it was detrimental. Also wish the towels were a bit softer and more absorbent, but they were clean and did their job. The Wi-Fi is pretty weak, I just used my phone data instead. And our room didn't have any tissues, but I made do with just toilet paper if my nose started running. Housekeeping clearly works hard on cleaning, but it looks like restocking paper supplies slipped someone's mind accidentally. Again, no big deal, I could've just asked for more tissues, just wanted to include it to inform the staff. Thanks for a great...
Read moreWhere do I start....Ok, so check-in is apparently at 4pm and check out is at 11am. We arrive in Sandusky on Sunday at approx 10 am. I called the hotel to see if my family and I could check-in early. The front desk says she think that it is unlikely due to the fact that all the rooms had been booked and they had to wait until guest leave to clean the rooms at least until my room became available. (In my head I'm thinking due to COVID they should be booking guest at least to half of their capacity, as this will ensure all rooms have been cleaned thoroughly and quarantined at least 2 days before the next guest arrives. Fast forward, it is now 4pm and we arrive at the hotel and our room is still no ready. The front desk tell us that my family and I could go sit in the pool area and he will notify us when our room is available. Ok cool, but not cool. At approx 4:30 our room becomes available and we were given room 226 which is located in the back building of the hotel. Here is when things really go bad
Husband lifted up toilet seat and all you see is some wet as well as dried up urine (bathroom was not cleaned)
Could not connect to WIFI. Apparently, the WIFI had been out for some time and only people that had access to WIFI were guest that stayed in the main building.
Smoke detector literally hanging from ceiling exposing all wiring
TV kept losing signal.
I could write more, but I think this is enough information to bring about some changes.
If I could, I would rate this, and I would give it a 1 star
I highly don't recommend staying at LaQuinta (Sandusky). You know it is bad when you have to pack your family back up at 10:30pm and find another hotel to stay because of the...
