Update: The mall brought in a lot more customers after the renovations, the TJ Maxx is in a much larger, new location in the mall, and the mall also has a Ross store attached to it. The mall is much more lively now and it doesn’t have many, if any, vacant store fronts. The mall did a really good job reinventing themselves. The rest of this review is from before their renovations.
This is a subpar shopping mall in Sandusky. I have gone here a couple times, but I don’t try to unless I have to. This used to be a great mall, but lots of the stores are now gone. After Sears and Macy’s closed, lots of other stores closed to. The entire section of the mall near Macy’s became completely abandoned, so every storefront was empty. A while later Elder Beerman closed, so every store in the hallway leading to that store shut down. There are still some stores left, but I personally find them all rather boring. There’s an American Eagle, BAM! book store, JC Penney (whenever I go there I don’t see any people around and their floor tiles have a bunch of cracks in them), Shoe Department, Bath and Body Works, Hot Topic, Champ, and Spencer’s. The mall has a food court with an Asian food place and a store that sells cookies. The cookies they sell are very good, and that store is the only thing I like in this entire mall. I’ve never been to the Asian food place so I can’t comment on their food. However, the mall has recently started renovations in order to attract more business. The mall’s going to knock down Macy’s and the entire abandoned section of the mall, replacing it with a road and storefronts that face said roads. The old Sears has been converted to a Hobby Lobby, which is a store that sells arts and crafts supplies. I’m not into that sort of thing, so I found that store to be rather boring. The way the mall is built is that there’s a JC Penney anchoring the mall on its north end, and the food court and children’s play area being on the south end of the mall. There’s a small set of stores past the children’s play area, including American Eagle, Spencer’s, and the hallway with the spot that Elder Beerman used to be in. I gave this shopping mall two stars because it doesn’t have any stores, and I find the stores that they do have to be quite boring. The one pro of the mall having barely any people visit it is that it’s always easy to find a parking spot. There are plans to redevelop the mall to attract more tenants, but personally, I don’t think that they’ll...
Read moreNeed new security staff. Extremely disrespectful and prejudicial towards me. I lost a granddaughter December 1st 2014. I have been dealing with that for four years. I had my finger nails painted blue to help support Sandusky schools anti bullying programs. The head security guard mentioned my nails to me and one of Perkins Township officers. The officer said this to me. The officer stated my nails were no issue to him. But, the head security manager was indignant about them.. Lol. I do not care what other people do or think. I am trying to overcome the lost of a four month old granddaughter. But, in the times I have been here at this mall. They really need to adjust their security procedures to make this mall a great place to shop. Local people know it and stay away. Sorry the truth can be painful. But, for the tenants to thrive this mall Management needs to fix this bad image fast. Or. Sell it to...
