I’ve honestly had BETTER Jamaican food . I went there wanting to try something new and I was not impressed to say the least. First off the location itself outside is not a pretty site and the inside needs a lot more work. I wonder how they even passed any health inspection it looks like an old ran down restaurant. Inside just looks dirty, they need to do better. The food was not tasty, like I said before I’ve had better. The chicken was a little fresh to me, and just lacked seasoning . The food didn’t do it for me as a result I didn’t finish the food. I ended up trashing it, I definitely don’t recommend this place if you’re looking for quality Jamaican food or somewhere you can sit in and have lunch. In my opinion they definitely need improvement.

You know the show t Dinners, Drive-Ins and Dives? This place should be on that show. It is amazing! Of course it won't be. Because Guy Fieri only goes to strip malls and places in the middle of nowhere. The food was outstanding and it is definitely a dive. I only gave them four stars because there is a step to get into the restaurant which is super tiny. Don't let the looks fool you. You will love the authentic Jamaican food. We purchased, cod fish soup, oxtail with rice and cabbage, and Chicken in brown sauce with collard greens. Portions were super generous. You cannot order ahead, you must order when you get there and it is cash only. So bring plenty of greenbacks! You

This place may seem a little off but don’t be afraid because inside is flavor like no other. The food was super yummy and the price was surprisingly reasonable. But the true gem was their homemade juice. We tried the watermelon juice and it was like biting into a fresh slice of watermelon. For food we tried the curry goat with rice and peas and cabbage, and the oxtails with sweet potatoes and collard greens. The portions were a lot for the price all together we spent 37 for the food we also had two Pepsi and two waters and 8 for the homemade juice

I dined in for an early dinner and ordered the Brown Stew Chicken w Yams & Collard Greens, Fish Soup, and Watermelon Juice. Everything was very tasty! The yams didn’t have much additional flavor though but I didn’t mind because as a side they just absorbed the sauce from the Brown Stew Chicken and got flavored that way. Also they seem to use pretty fresh produce so all the produce had more of its own natural flavor - yams, collard greens, as well as the cabbage and carrots in the Stew, and the okra in the Fish Soup. The flavors in the Fish Soup seemed unique to me and I really enjoyed it. The soup came with a tasty dumpling in it as well (not sure if there is a different name for this dumpling but I will be doing more research on Caribbean cuisines). I also liked that there were not bones in the soup as I often expect bones when ordering most meats from Caribbean restaurants but I’m not a fan of dealing with them. The Brown Stew Chicken while very tasty and flavorful, does have bones in it. Everything was well seasoned and salty, but not to an offensive extent at all - just perfect and as expected. Last but not least, the Watermelon Juice was a very refreshing addition to the meal that was much appreciated after walking in hot weather. It tasted like fresh fruit and was sweet but not too sweet! It was honestly a real necessity at the time, so I’m glad I found this place. I definitely want to come back and try more of their food.

The service was also great! Everyone working there seemed friendly, which is definitely not always the case, and I felt welcome. Someone (the chef?) came out to personally take orders to speed up the line which wasn’t even long, so they seem committed to getting people their food fast (despite “island time” existing in Caribbean cultures). The menu is simple which allows them to have everything ready quickly & at a high quality. The quality of the food is what matters above all, and it seems they understand that. Also be ready with cash as it is Cash Only.

I love the cozy vibe and the old school diner/lunch counter aesthetics, but I felt like the dining room/bar space should be better utilized. I understand this situation isn’t even necessarily their fault as we are in the era of takeout, and they clearly put their money towards making sure the food is good, which is obviously most important. I also understand they are dealing with the fact that their menu isn’t super conducive for the bar/lunch counter setting, and it’s detached from the kitchen, but it has a purpose - it’s where they make and serve the homemade juices. Something as simple as pictures of the main ingredients in the juices could be a low cost way to liven up this area and serve a practical purpose as well. They have big, comfortable tables which some restaurants in the area don’t even offer anymore, so I...

I’ve had much better in terms of taste, quality and packaging. Food was shoveled in like slop and made a mess in the bag on the way home - something that can be common with Jamaican restaurants, but there was little to no care at this spot. The plaintains were smushed in with all of it instead of separate so they tasted like the sauce instead of sweet plaintains. The chicken stew had ONE single tiny potato and ONE single tiny carrot in it. The WORST part was the sweet potatoes- they werent seasoned at all. Literally tasted like someone just peeled them and dropped them into my platter. I never in my life have had to season food from a Jamaican restaurant myself. That was when I def decided this place is terrible. Overall, only my fiancé seemed to enjoy it because it’s a childhood spot for him. But our son and myself basically didn’t eat much and instead ordered food from somewhere else after this mess. Want real, quality Jamaican food? Try Reggae Reggae Vibes on Girard Ave - they’re the BEST! We only tried here cause they were...
