I asked for cornrolls braided up into a ponytail like I dream of Jeanie/ Nikki Minaj sort of style. The girl braided way too tight. I am blessed I got away with some of my edges left. The style lasted a week and a half and the front and back cornrolls started to lift and peel back after some of my edges ripped away. After the second week I took my hair down and here is the kicker; she cut my natural hair in the middle where the ponytail portion resided. I told her it was ok if she didn't do as many braids as the photo-- but not by way of cutting my actual hair! I have a large volume of hair all around but damn. Then I realized she cut certain pieces of the front of my hair and some of it cannot go back into my natural ponytail. I will recover and make it work-- but whatever you do avoid this place like the plague. The style will come out looking nice but that is after they butcher your edges and your actual natural hair and it won't last long. Not worth it. I would recommend you staying natural or throw a 20 dollar synthetic wig on before going to this place. I have avoided going to these African hair braiding shops for years and I thought "What's the harm in going one time?". I seen it all now. Sad thing is-- they miss out on so much future money by taking short cuts like that and ripping out peoples hairline. Worst thing about it all - these nightmares started to unfold while I was out of state. Please do yourself a favor and invest that money in the powerball, cause you would have a better chance of winning the powerball than NOT getting your hair damaged by...
Read moreI would not recommend this shop. I would recommend paying a little extra and going to a professional hair braiding shop.
I had "micro-braids" done here on May 5, 2013. First, the stylist braided my hair way too tight and I had to take many of the braids out the next day because I had bruises on my scalp. I still have bald patches that I am trying to grow back from where the braids pulled my hair out. Not only that, I asked for micros and she gave me only micros in the front. The braids in the back were so fat that they could have been made into 10-15 smaller braids each. This had the effect of my hair looking limp and definitely less full than I'd had in mind. I purchased three full packs of human hair, but the stylist used only two and did not use the entire 2nd pack.
Finally, when the braiding was done and I pulled out my VISA check card to pay (they have a VISA and MasterCard logo right on their window!), the woman informs me that they take cash only. So, I had to pay a fee at an ATM to withdraw the money.
This shop was horrible and was the worse $150 I've ever spent. I would never go back and would never recommend it to anyone. Stay away from these kitchen braiding shops (they ruin your hair) and just pay the money for a...
Read moreDO NOT get your hair done here. I had box braids installed a week ago, I already have had 5 fall out, and am currently wearing my hair in a bun to prevent them from falling out randomly as I go about my day. We clearly discussed needing braids that would last at least a month and we even changed styles from Ghana braids (like Goddess braids) and switched to box braids in an effort to have them last longer. The owner (KayDee) claims that it must be something I have done with the braids and that they have a 3 day policy for fixing individual braids that have fallen out. 1) nobody in their right mind would pay for or install braids that would fall out in 3 days= useless policy and almost insults her service itself 2) they essentially give you whatever style they want- I showed her a pic of smaller braids; she ended up putting larger sized braids into my hair, which was formerly a short cut and not long enough to hold a larger braid= slipping out now. 3) save your edges, save your $ and save your sanity and find another shop to get your...
