Alaqsa Halal Meats & Groceries — Attraction in Philadelphia

I don’t understand how can people find this place clean and organized. I went there for the first and last time. The ground was sticky and dirty… we can say that it was little bit organized but they can do better. In the butcher the bad smell make me wanna throw up. My husband convinced me that the smell was maybe coming from the trash can. But how can they leave it inside. Anyway we ended up purchasing a lamp leg some ground beef a whole chicken and chicken tenders. To be honest I looked at the butcher counter the cutting machines they looked clean. Ones at home I found out that the chicken tenders where sticky and start turning blue with a very strong smell. The whole chicken was ok snd the lamp as well. The ground beef was worst the smell very bad and more then 50 fat. Et trie à way both the ground beef snd chicken tenders. I cooked the whole chicken next day it was good . I kept in the friser the lamp that I cooked few days later and the whole family got diarrhea. I can’t be sure if it’s because of the meat but I do have a strong feeling about it. Any way. The location is also one of the reasons that I will never go there again. It’s really very bad neighborhood. My advice that they need at least to work hard on the cleaning and maybe they should remove all the hanging signs happy 3id happy Ramadan from years everything is old and dusty. The owner was nice 👍 I need to give him a credit for that. But the young men in the check out need to smile little bit. I don’t like to live bad reviews but it may help them improve there business. I love this place. I love their meat. Great team of guys they have there. Mohammad also runs the pharmacy so he's not there any more buts he's a great guys who will work with you. Sammy is great too.. I usually pick this store over the Spanish store next door. Great especially for wic customers. Iykyk. Anyway great store and good people. Oh plus you can get the essential oils at the front with Stamps and if you know that's great because they have black castor oil and sometimes even regular castor oil. Just ask them if not currently in stock and they'll get it. They also sell jewelry in the same shop but you must ask. I love buying meats here like steak products. I get my cheese here plus all my fruits and veggies.

I need to try their brand olive oil for my tinctures . That will be my next try here.

I used the Shea butter they sell along with some coconut oil to cure my 3 year Olds eczema it works even better then the hydrocortisone cream. Keeps all the bumps away!!

This is a great store. I started shopping there back around 1999 when one day I passed by having had my apartment at the time not too far away. I passed by and saw the sign out front that said Halal so I went in and to the back by the deli section and asked a worker if the store sells halal to which he replied, with a serious face, yes. I nodded and went about my shopping. Wide variety of products and great prices. I remember about 2 or 3 years later one of the owners had about 1/3rd of the shelves emptied out and I asked him why and he said he'd gotten into a bit of an argument on the phone with one of his suppliers and at one point the supplier admitted a bit nervously that several of the foods weren't halal at all so the owner had his people remove them. Anyway, they always have a good selection of things, great prices and the owners and staff are very professional, helpful and courteous. Plus they have a good size parking spot right next to the store. I highly recommend this store...
