I have been doing THRIVE at Fishtown CF since 2019. I did THRIVE training throughout two of my pregnancies and three postpartum periods of my life. I felt stronger as each year passed thanks to my coaches in the THRIVE program. THRIVE allowed me to bounce back quickly after each pregnancy and kept me on a healthy lifestyle track. THRIVE has helped me physically and mentally. I am now confident with my workouts and physical appearance. I feel more confident because of all the workout I do at THRIVE. The results I have gotten from THRIVE have helped me be a better version of myself. I leave every THRIVE workout with a clear mindset and confidence that helps me tackle the days ahead. My fitness journey over the last five years has been so positive thanks to THRIVE. I have set and met many different goals with my coaches’ support. I have been motivated to continue THRIVE because the pod, coaches, and CF staff have been so welcoming and inspiring. I want to reach my goals because I know I have a community behind me who is rooting for me. One of my most recent fitness achievements was reaching 50 push ups. When I started THRIVE, I was unable to do 1 push up. So reaching 50 push ups was an unthinkable milestone that I am proud of. Currently, my coach, Manny, has been a big reason why I am motivated now more than ever to meet my fitness goals. He has spent the time getting to know me and making sure my workouts are tailored to me. He has changed moves and sets for me during training sessions. This proves to me that I am getting quality workouts for specific fitness needs. Manny is attentive and extremely knowledgeable about all things related to health and fitness. I have learned a great deal from him since I began consistently working out with him. THRIVE has and continues to meet my expectations of a high-quality fitness program that anyone can participate in. The coaches take the time to clearly explain moves and rationales behind the program and the results speak for themselves. I would 100% recommend the THRIVE program that is offered at CF. The coaches and community make sure that all feel included and capable of reaching individual health and fitness goals. I am thankful for all of the years I have dedicated to THRIVE and am looking forward to continuing my workouts to meet new fitness journey...
Read moreWent to this gym for 8 months before leaving because I was moving to a different city. My major grievance is how crowded the weight section gets during peak hours. It is not even worth trying to lift weights after work as you'll spend all day waiting for all the exercises you need to do. My other major grievance is the number of ways they try to extract money from you, which I have delineated below: Thrive: They a cross-fit type program unique to City Fitness called "Thrive" which is exceedingly expensive. After declining, I was repeatedly asked in person, by text, email, and phone calls why I wasn't participating. They would go so far as to ask "besides the money, why aren't you joining thrive." The money is the main issue as their recommend Thrive program for me would have cost me $6,000 over the course of a year... The various fees... There is a sign-on fee, which is not unexpected but also an annual gym infrastructure fee which makes no sense. I don't get charged an infrastructure fee by my phone provider or my barber, so why does my gym think its okay to charge that so explicitly instead of considering those costs as an expenditure of their business. Finally, cancelling my membership took hours of my time. I went in person, called over the phone, sent emails, and went in person again. You have to cancel more than a month in advance (which fortunately I did but only by pure luck) and if you don't you get charged anyways. Finally, you can't directly talk to the billing people. I've never heard of a more difficult way to cancel. Finally, I would have appreciated more yoga classes at the gym.
I would have given this place two stars but they did have nice treadmills with TV and internet, along with a steady supply of...
Read moreI cannot express enough how dismal my experience with City Fitness has been. From the moment I walked in, the lack of space in this gym was painfully evident, and it only got worse from there.
The workout areas are so tightly packed with equipment that it's a real challenge to move around without accidentally bumping into someone or feeling like you're invading someone else's personal workout bubble. Forget about trying to find a peaceful corner for stretching or bodyweight exercises – every inch is cluttered with machinery.
What's even more infuriating is the blatant money-grabbing scheme when attempting to cancel your membership. I decided to end my membership due to the subpar facilities, only to find myself entangled in a bureaucratic nightmare. It seems like City Fitness is more interested in holding onto your hard-earned money than providing a satisfactory fitness environment.
When I tried to cancel, the staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful, conveniently "losing" paperwork and providing conflicting information about the cancellation process. The cancellation fees were exorbitant, and the entire ordeal felt like a deliberate attempt to discourage members from leaving.
It's disheartening to see a gym prioritize profit over member satisfaction. If you're considering joining City Fitness, be warned – not only will you be sacrificing personal space during your workouts, but you may also find yourself in a frustrating battle to reclaim your money if you decide to cancel. Save yourself the headache and explore other fitness options that genuinely value...
