I wanted to try a new restaurant and decided to use Uber. Now mind you I understand it could be partially the Uber drivers fault. Their menu looked fantastic and I really wanted the pasta Cesar salad and thatās the reason I placed an order. When my order got here the only item missing was the said pasta salad. Again I am very specific when it comes to my food. If I knew that would happen I wouldnāt have order at all. No problem, I let the uber driver know there was missing items and he said he couldnāt help and the store was busy. Okay thatās fine I understand mistakes happen. I open my bag. Mind you I ordered a turkey hoagie, root beer chips and a side of pickle. The entire inside of the bag was soaked in pickle juice. The restaurant legit threw the pickle in a plastic bag and did not tie it. My entire hoagie was mushy and soaked in pickle juice. Now thatās just careless. Itās frustrating because then when you report it to uber eats they give you a hard time and donāt want to refund your money. Needless to say all I had left to eat was the chips and root beer. Which was okay. Unfortunately this is my first experience here and it was extremely disappointing. I did try the meat and it was just okay. I wish I could give an honest review of the sandwich but that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe good - their tomato pie is awesome and delicious. I buy boxes of it from Riverwards frequently and it never disappoints. They have a clearly labelled vegan hoagie on the menu. Service is helpful and efficient.
The just ok - the vegan hoagie is... odd. I've had it 2 or 3 times now, and it's always sopping wet due to the pile of giant marinated beans. The beans taste good, (I'm greek, I love gigantes) but they are really hard to eat in a sandwich and just pop right out of the bread... that is until the bread is so saturated and stodgy that it loses all structure. The rest is a wet mayo, wet peppers, and broccoli rabe (under cooked and under seasoned last time). It does taste good and is ok if you want a salad on a roll, but for a top-tier modern hoagie shop, I guess I was just hoping they could at least throw in some seared tofu or seitan cutlets. I know Fresh Tofu and Michael's Seitan are both local and high quality products, not to mention Bandit vegan cheeses. Would love to see the vegan sandwich...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe intentionally waited to try Liberty Kitchen for the first time until some of the hype died down but really enjoyed it.
The Kale Caesar hoagie was MASSIVE. Truly massive. My wife and I split it and still couldn't finish our respective halves. If you're turned off by the idea of an $18 sandwich, I'd challenge yourself to think of this as TWO sandwiches.
The Hoagie was good, but it wasn't life changing like the hype would suggest. The dressing wasn't quite massaged into the kale, so our sandwich ate dry (we ended up abandoning the bread about halfway through and just ate the Kale/Chicken like a salad.
What WAS lifechanging was the Gigante Bean side. OMG. We were too full to eat this at the restaurant and brought it home. I wanted to call the restaurant the next day to ask for the recipe. I dream about them, those beans are my life now.
Would I go back? Yes (obviously for the beans, but I'd like to try their Chicken Parm). Would I order the Kale Caesar Hoagie again? Probably not.
Loved the wrestling decor, it was...
