Every moment was a positive experience, from the moment we stepped foot into the store, through the entire design process, to picking up the finished rings (~13 weeks turnaround time), to now enjoying the full engagement & wedding ring set 5 months later. My fiancé (now husband) and I chose to go with ECJ's fully custom design process partly because of their dedication to using recycled and fair mined metals and stones, and partly because we had such a fantastic first-time shopping experience with them. ECJ was our first stop in our e-ring shopping journey, and we had no idea what to look for or ask about. We were welcomed in without an appointment on a weekday, and Natalie graciously spent over 2 hours of her time with us going over the basics in great detail and discussing my initial design ideas for a custom e-ring and wedding band set. We almost went with them immediately, but given that we had no other knowledge or experience with ring shopping, we decided to shop around at other jewelers in the area to see if anyone offered something similar at lower estimated cost.

After a few weeks of shopping around, we finally decided that ECJ was the best option for us in terms of customizability, sustainability, and customer service. We had a 3 hour CAD design session where we sat down with Natalie and worked through all the options and details of both e-ring and wedding ring jacket. It was a long process, but so much fun and so cool see your idea come to life in front of your eyes!

After the CAD drawings were complete, we went in about a week later to try on the 3D printed wax mockups. Here is where I requested a design change. The initial ring jacket design had a fleur de lis motif at the top point, but this felt too stark and pointy on the wax model. When I expressed my doubt, Natalie very graciously spent another 2 hours with me on CAD to figure out what wasn't working and what changes we could make to have the whole piece feel more cohesive. We settled on reflecting the leaf motif from the bottom band to the top point and changing the spacing of the filigree, which was exactly what the design needed to feel tighter and more cohesive.

I was really excited after seeing the updated wax model, but nothing could prepare me for seeing the final products. I am still blown away by how delicate and detailed the rings are in actual metal. I can see and feel the care and craftsmanship the ECJ team has put into these rings. I’m truly blown away and so grateful we had the opportunity to work with ECJ. I will be an ECJ customer for life. My partner and I went for a consultation appointment prior to getting engaged and from start to finish we couldn’t be more obsessed with the whole team and our rings as well! We are low-key people and every experience we had with the staff at ECJ felt casual, yet special. We love their ethos and having such a large investment be an ethical one was of top importance with us. We loved working with a company and group of people that is in alignment with our values.

At our appointment for my engagement ring, I tried on different styles, and truly loved so many of the options ECJ had to offer that I was overwhelmed. I told my partner that he could just surprise me and I didnt care what it looked like as long as it felt like ‘me’. My partner proceeded to work closely with Natalie and the rest of the team over many months to design a custom ring that is now my most treasured piece of jewelry that I own. It is a true heirloom piece that I know will be treasured in our family for generations; they even incorporated diamonds from my grandmother's wedding band into the ring which makes it that much more special.

When it came to getting our wedding bands, it was a no-brainer that we were also going to work with ECJ. My partner designed a stunning custom ring and I chose one of their beautiful traditional ‘twig’ bands. I purchase an engagement ring from Emily Chelsea, as I was told from my girlfriend that this was the place.

She gave me a couple band styles, told me the cut, and ring size and the rest was up to me. I thought this was more than enough information but boy is there more to it than that. Luckily Sam was there to help me out.

Sam was my guide throughout the process and provided me with videos, images, and opinions that took the fear out of buying a ring online. When push comes to shove you need to be there in person to see the flaws and defects of a diamond. But honestly sometimes only a professional will be able to see the differences and explain why the prices are different. Thankfully Sam provided their expertise and help me limit my diamond search to two stones rather quickly. Once the diamond was decided a 50% deposit was needed to begin the process and to provide a completion date.

1-3 weeks later renderings were provided by Natalie; then images of a wax mold holding the stone. This was a relief as it felt that I didn’t just get scammed and that a real ring was coming:) Another 3-4 weeks and ship date was upon us. Sam ensured that it arrived during my WFH day and before my gf got home:) I did ask for a final photo just to make sure I knew what was coming and Sam provided that too with the help from Adrian!
