The vibe in this restaurant is different. Let's begin with the service. The woman at the counter was extremely kind and patient and helped me pick out a good and affordable option for lunch. I had the falafel and hummus wrap, which had a surprising kick to it- something I was not used to in my falafel as a Palestinian. I also had the egg and cheese sandwich as extra protein since I had just come from the gym. It was simple, yet filling, and I appreciate them for making it past the breakfast service. The chicken samosa was a bit dry, but I still liked the flavor it had. I was also craving caffeine, so I tried the caffe latte and that had a nice dark roast flavor that reminded me of Arabic coffee. It was different bc 1) there's a little "convenient store" side in the back and 2) it was both Middle Eastern and Ethiopian, so the only was I could judge them was to order some Middle Eastern food lol. Maybe next time I'll try some authentic Ethiopian food Inshallah. 4 stars.

Imagine the sounds of Aster Aweke and Teddy Afro softly playing in the background...the faint smell of incense and you have the backdrop for this Ethiopian Restaurant in Germantown Philadelphia. It's a must go because it is an East African culinary vibe that is clean, has a friendly staff and most of all the best Ethiopian food in Philadelphia. I had the lamb tibs with gomen (chopped collard greens) and seasoned lentils. Delicious and seasoned to perfection. It is served with injera which is like a spongy textured flatbread that is used to sop up all the tasty goodies on your plate. This is made fresh on the premises. There is also a great selection of vegan options. While I was waiting the manager made me some fresh Ethiopian coffee. If you want to enjoy a meal by yourself or with friends this is the place.

I happened to find this place while looking for a meal on Google Maps. I am so happy that I did. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. The lamb and the salmon were very tender and full of flavor. Also the injera was especially delicious. I can't wait to return to try more. Last but not least, the staff was very kind and friendly. As one reviewer said previously, "you can tell this food was made with love." I can agree with that. The staff there had great personalities and were full of genuine smiles. That makes any dining experience even more pleasant. If you are ever in this area, please give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Title: Disappointing Coffee Experience at Salams Café

I recently visited Salams Café and, unfortunately, my experience was quite mixed. While I have to commend their egg and cheese sandwich with turkey bacon—it was absolutely delicious and one of the best I’ve had—the coffee was an entirely different story.

The coffee was horrendous; I couldn’t even drink it. It tasted like salt water, which is difficult to describe adequately. I immediately called the café to express my disappointment and asked if I could return it. The customer service representative, who was very kind, informed me that they Didn’t need the coffee and offered me a partial refund instead. However, given that I spent $8 on a cup of coffee that was undrinkable, I felt that a full refund was warranted, especially since both my sister and I had purchased coffees that we couldn’t enjoy.

I want to clarify that I don’t want a refund for the sandwich, as it was good. I am solely seeking a full refund of an additional eight dollars for The additional Cup of coffee. I would appreciate it if the owner could reach out to me regarding this issue, as I believe I am owed this amount for the poor quality of the coffee. I hope Salams Café takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their coffee offerings. For now, I can only recommend the sandwiches—just steer clear of...

An Ethiopian restaurant was at the top of my wish list for Germantown for a long time. I can’t overstate how excited I was to hear that we were finally getting one. I was a huge fan of the West Philly spots that are known throughout the city, especially Abyssinia. Salam Cafe isn’t a full-service restaurant quite the same way those places are, but it’s absolutely a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It’s a cafe with a good amount of seating and, for now, a simple menu. As a vegan I was interested in only in the vegan platter and some of the sides. The vegan platter included plenty of injera, collards (I think), and what I think is a spicy lentil mash. It was awesome. Spice factor was probably a 6 on a scale of 1-10.

The $10 platter was really good and fed me for 2 meals. Not a bad deal. I can see myself going back more frequently if they start to offer some other vegan options so that I can mix it up from time to time. Perhaps one day Salam will expand to a full-service restaurant (which Germantown still desperately lacks), but either way it’s absolutely worth a visit if you’re local or just...

The best tasting Ethiopian food in Philadelphia although much pricier than other restaurants (over $60 for 2 people hence 4 star rating instead of 5). Their prices for 2 used to be much more reasonable and competitive, so sadly we will not be coming ( unless a special occasion) given the new pricing of over $30 per person for one main course each...no dessert, appetizer or beer! They are even more expensive than the ethiopian restaurant in Ardmore! The meals used to be under $20 each at Salam. We were not given a menu, so we were unaware of the large increase in price. The food was spiced to perfection. We had the special tibs in spiced butter and doro wot. The food never misses the mark! The doro wot comes with two sides....we asked for alicha kik and miser wot. They put four sides (barely any miser wot) but made up for their error by bringing extra miser wot since four sides were not ordered and we don't eat collards and cabbage. We always have miser wot and alicha kik as our sides with the doro wot and highly recommend them. We also recommend eating...
