I dig this shop/location so hard!!! It's a real big, 3 floor, 1 cafe shop (2nd floor with bathrooms) and escalators to each floor (no staircases/elevators). I've never had a bad nor uncomfortable nor even remotely unpleasant/unhelpful experience with CSRs throughout nor in the cafe and security has always been chill, but still on point. I've had a lot of luck with perpetual sales and promotions that they always seem to be running on a bunch of merchandise too. Good deals! The cafe is pretty decently sized with a lot of tables and bench-style wall seating. There are multiple electrical outlets scattered throughout too. Given the shop's size, tho, the seating/tables/outlets get snagged up quick (and for long periods bc of the high number of schools in the area leading to many students chosing to study/work there). I've had to stake out possible seats/tables opening and keep UTD on their status so I don't lose an opening to another customer first. Be forewarned! The location across from rittenhouse is clutch if the weather's nice.. It's easy to grab a quick coffee, book, journal, etc. and take it over and chill in the park a...
Read moreThe service here is always fast, friendly and helpful and the selection of books you want are always current and available in amounts that will ensure you get one. Despite the scaled down size of the store from on 18th St there is still a level of enjoyment here even when it's crowded. The crowd here seems to do this automatic, untaught bookshopping line dance because the traffic here seems to aways flow nicely with everyone knowing when to do the next move and the customers are friendly here as well. It seems to come from the staff which all seem to work well together (at least on the surface) but they are all friendly, helpful and pleasant which can't be trained to do in dealing with some customers but these kinds of attitudes may be one of the reasons there aren't any rude or obnoxious customers that ive ever seen in any of the B&N's honestly and the Willow Grove and Plymouth Meeting are my absolute favorite stores. There is this one female staff member here; has white hair, she wears glasses, a little more mature than the others, very stern and direct but friendly and pleasant. She's always very helpful. They hit all the marks in my...
Read moreI love B&N I really do, but there is never a time when I walk into that store ( formally the Walnut St.)and I am not being followed by the staff, the black staff. It happened while the store was based on Walnut St. and it happened at your new store on Chestnut St. I worked in retail for over 20 years so I know the ques. Today was my first time going into the new store. I didn't even fully get a chance to walk around and explore because I was made to feel uncomfortable by the black security guards that were following me, who didn't think that I knew they were following me around. ( if ever time I look up you around me then you are following). I need to make this very clear, I don't need to steal $20 - $30 book from a bookstore, I have a library card. With that being said if I wanted to just borrow a book I would, but I want to buy the book. That is a benefit for your company and employees. It keeps you in business and keeps your employees paid. Today was the last day i’ll step foot in that location again. I'm not going to be made to feel uncomfortable and I spend money,...
