Jimmy's is perfect. This review is long overdue - since first stopping by last year, I've simply fallen in love with this Phillipsburg gem.
I finally had a chance to meet Sofia & Nick today; although I've known this for awhile, it was nice to confirm that the food is so good because the people who are working to make it are beyond lovely.
I often order the same menu item ... Cali Cheeseburger, extra cheese. It's difficult to pull off to such a degree of excellence as here (every step is technically perfect, from diced red onions instead of sliced to cheese slices placed exactly squarely across a round patty) but what impresses me even more is the degree of consistency & exceptional service that accompanies this simply wonderful food.
It seems obvious but after a dozen or so visits I'm confident that Jimmy's is far from a fluke ... it's reminiscent, to me, of a traditional sit-down counter restaurant in San Francisco on Broadway in Chinatown named Sam's Burgers. At Sam's you can order a burger, fries, and beer. The business is cash-only and limited to 10 seats or takeout.
If you've ever had a burger from Sam's, you can expect something similar at Jimmy's. I can't think of a higher compliment to give food; but with that said, the service at Jimmy's is in a league of its own.
Everything I've ever had here has been great. It's not fancy - traditional, American fry kitchen - but it is something I prefer even more which is real and of high quality.
I cannot recommend this business more highly. Must-visit if you're crossing the Free Bridge or anywhere in the local area and looking for a great hot dog.
PS: Jimmy's makes the best onion rings in the Lehigh Valley, and the margin is considerable. This isn't intended as a put-down of other restaurants ... simply; the bar has been set, and set high. I'd welcome trying any...
Read moreWent here after tubing. Food is decedent fast food; however, the service is terrible. It is like it was their first day operating and they were not friendly. If you just get a hot dog, then their service is probably fine as they are just handing you a hot dog and how can really mess that up. I ordered a chicken gyro meal with fries, and a Cheese steak meal. I asked for them to put the raw onions on the side and told them it was to eat there. They prepared it to go, and I kindly asked them for a tray as I was eating there. They acted like they were doing me a huge favor (which is after I tipped them $5.00 on a to go meal). Then I open up the gyro and it’s covered with raw onions. As I was splitting the meal with someone who can’t eat onions, I asked them to make it again. They acted like it was my fault and that I was being unreasonable and told me I had to wait, which I was fine with. I also made the mistake of asking for a side of ranch for the fries, but they were out of ranch. Then I was looking for the ketchup and a plastic knife and fork. No plastic silver wear was to be found. They had a large ketchup you can pump on the counter, but they didn’t have any cups for you to put it in. I had to ask for a cup for the ketchup and a plastic knife and again, you would have thought I was asking for free food. If they don’t want to be bothered –put out cups for ketchup and plastic silver wear like any other fast food place. I’ve been in the service industry for years and this is not how you treat customers and run a good business. Despite the terrible service – although I hate to admit it – I can’t deny that the cheese steak was...
Read moreWe always pass by after church and today I told my husband let's stop by for lunch there always people sitting outside around this time. Its honestly somewhere we couldn't come again. The food was something we can make at home. It was overly priced in our opinion for what we got and received. The hot dogs were overly stuff as well it was a mess to eat. Also the services was fast which was nice but when my husband asked for mayo the server made a face in shock for whatever reason which made him uncomfortable...than my husband asked for a refill since it was only a small we got. We had to pay for a whole new drink which was ridiculous. Because the soda has a weird taste to it. A lady than said we have water which was had a nasty taste as well. The atmosphere was okay. Very quiet no music you could hear people eat how close you were. My daughter was the main entertainment saying hi to everyone which the enjoyed and found her personality enjoyable. Made me and my husband nervous at first because of how quiet it was but the people around us weren't bothered at al. We left full but it was something we could of bought from a grocery store and made at home. Unfortunately our experience wasn't welcoming or enjoyable. But they must be doing something right for the locals since we always see people in and out when...
