St. John of the Desert Melkite Catholic Church — Attraction in Phoenix

While visiting Phoenix, my baby and I attended Sunday Liturgy here. Right when we walked in, I was hit with the realization that this is a strong, close community, deeply focused on Our Lord (also, I was excited to see so many babies and young children). The Liturgy was beautiful (I am Roman Catholic, this was my first time attending a Melkite Liturgy) and everyone was incredibly welcoming, inviting me to the post-Liturgy coffee time, holding my baby so I could get food, making sure I had a place to sit and everything I needed. Love the Eastern Divine Liturgy. Of the Eastern Catholic Churches this is my favorite. Clergy are great and cantors do very well. Beautiful little Church. Lots of kids so it can get a bit distracting but as they say, "If your Church isn't crying, then it's dying." The Divine Liturgy is a sure way to come into the presence of God. Love this...
