First - In store was just fine. Nice people and free beer, awesome!
Came with free delivery and setup, Cool! I could have easily assembled the unit but I have lots of other things to do so why not.
Day before delivery, I got a call with a 12-4pm window - Looking forward to grilling! Get a text at 1pm that we have truck troubles and it will be towards the end of the window. Cool. 3pm and still no call so I call to ask about it. Same story, truck problems, will be closer to 4pm. Now 4:30pm and I'm told the truck is leaving Paoli or something and it should be within the hour. 5:35 I call and first no answer for a few calls. Then I get in touch and I'm told the truck is here but they are going to another local delivery so it will be probably an hour. UNACCEPTABLE. After threatening to just cancel the order and being put on hold - They come back and say you'll be the next stop now. Fast forward 40 minutes (because it takes that long to drive 3.5 miles) and the run down crappy delivery truck from NJ shows up.
The driver tells me they had to assemble the unit at the showroom cause you know, it's HOT out. That's utter BS since 2 hours prior I confirmed the grill was assembled already for delivery. Well as soon as the guy tells me they were just assembling it, I notice all the dust on the unit that was obviously assembled for weeks at minimum. The wheels also have PLENTY of scratches that show it must have been wheeled all over creation and certainly not "just assembled because it was hot out" as the driver tells me.
I'm not given any paperwork or made to sign anything which is comical. Finally today I see the model and serial number on the unit and it's not technically what we ordered. This model was the Special with the stainless grates we didn't want so they must have just switched with cast iron grates thus making it basically the model we ordered. I pull out the paperwork that has the serial number on it - Its a different serial than the grill!
If you've read this far you have to be thinking I'm nuts but hear me out. I bought a grill. A freaking GRILL. I can't even imagine buying expensive and more complicated appliances from the store. The phone calls were not very pleasant about the delay and certainly not apologetic. I'm not impressed and even though I really wish to support some local businesses being a business owner myself, I can't recommend this store after the...
Read moreWe first had the pleasure of meeting Skip Clark in 2001 when we moved to Collegeville and were looking for a Weber grill. Appliance Alliance was a word-of-mouth recommendation. Since then, we've been back a number of times, usually to replace a builder grade appliance or just to shop to see what the new appliances offered us in convenience.
Neither my wife, nor I, need to shop anyplace else for appliances. Their prices are on par or better than what you'll find at the big box stores and their service and knowledge of the appliances they carry are light years better. They truly know the products they sell and install.
During one visit, we told Skip about our "Dream Kitchen." He then showed us some really neat appliances; gas or electric cooktops, built-in ovens and microwaves, and under counter beverage centers. He even recommended a nearby company that could design and build our dream kitchen.
Fast forward a few years, my wife and I decided to price out our dream kitchen and found it was within our budget. When we designed our new kitchen, we stopped into Appliance Alliance and met with Skip. He showed us his current offerings and helped us select the appliances that would best serve our needs and wants. We were also introduced to Courtney. Once we ordered the appliances, we told Skip and Courtney that they should coordinate the delivery and installation with Dilworth Custom Designs, our kitchen remodeler.
Skip and Courtney are fantastic people to work with and nicely compliment their product offerings. They made sure we had all the information we needed to take advantage of product rebates, from GE and NECO (their appliance buying consortium). No question was too small or inconvenient to ask of them.
I should also add, Skip and Courtney provided some great post sale support. Skip helped me quickly get an obsolete kit that was needed to stack our older front-loading washer and dryer. Courtney identified a little rubber bumper that we found was missing on our new cooktop. She ordered the part and had it drop shipped to my address. I installed it very easily.
Stop in Appliance Alliance if you're considering replacing or adding an appliance in your house. Every once in a while, they'll bake something or chill a fresh beverage with a working display item. If you're lucky enough to be in their store on that day, you can sample a snack fresh out of one of their...
Read moreMy recent experience with Appliance Alliance in Phoenixville was a disaster. Summarizing, the showroom was closed due to pandemic and I needed a window air conditioner. The sale had to be done over the phone. Fine. I gave Courtney Clark, salesperson, measurements. I was uncomfortable buying a big ticket item over the phone and requested someone come out to confirm measurements. I only live 2 mins away in Phoenixville. I stated I'd be happy to pay fee for this service. That request fell wayward as Courtney was busy researching a unit to sell me to fit my needs. Great. I told her I wanted all the BTUs I could get to cool my entire first floor. I understood there was a delivery fee. No problem. Courtney was great to work with. Delivery day came but unit was way too big to fit window. Installer said he needed 3" more to fit. He was very courteous but did not know how to get window out and left my home. I then did get the window out and had the 3" more required. This unit was huge and as soon as they unloaded from the truck I could eyeball it was impossible to fit. They unpacked it anyway, even before confirmation of correct measurements. Left it on my floor. I called Courtney again to reschedule installation (had the 3" more now) Delivery Day #2 unsuccessful. Still too big. We consulted Skip Clark, Manager or owner, for next step. Only answer was to buy smaller unit. No kidding. His demeanor was not customer friendly. They returned unit to store. Delivery Day #3 came with right size. Skip not only charged me a 2nd delivery fee of $69 but also restock fee of $190. OUTRAGEOUS. Skip is a poor businessman as he could have met me half way especially in unprecedented time of health crisis and declining economy. I intentionally purchased locally to support my community. Unfortunately it was not appreciated. This all could have been avoided if someone would have come to measure as I had asked in first instance. I will say that when my other major appliances break down, as they are 20+ yrs old there is absolutely no way I would do business with Appliance Alliance again. And I am telling other folks who are in the market not to buy...
