Ravensgate — Attraction in Phoenixville

I walked by a sign that said ... today is the day to get the tattoo youve been wanting, walk ins welcome. I stood there for a while deciding. It was mothers day the next day, I wanted something small for each of my kids and the sign inspired me to go inside. I walked in and explained what I wanted. They told me eventho the sign outfront said that they were doing walkins they weren't. Everyone there was watching TV together. It really killed my moment of inspiration and I felt frustrated and misled. I was still willing to get the tattoo and asked about availability instead of checking and booking me I was handed a card and told to go online and book it myself. And to remember that there would be a 100.00 minimum. Everyone was still just watching TV. No one was tattooing, it's a fairly new place and I was trying to do business with them. It felt very much like my small request wasn't worth the time especially when they immediately acknowledged the sign stating they were tattooing that day knowing it brought me in and turned me away. It was early maybe 1:00 in the afternoon. Maybe if I had picked something that cost more they would have wanted to help. There was no point to having the sign out front and the door open just to refuse me. It was a bad experience and it's truly a shame bc I walked in and wanted to like the place as weird as that sounds. My daughter was with me and walked out disappointed as well. I ended up going nearby and getting something done, they were happy to help. The whole thing could have been avoided really by removing the sign. My two small tattoo requests werent enough to make anyone want to do business with me. Just a really bad experience. It may not have been much money but I wanted to be valued like any other customer. Ravensgate is more than a place where you can get tattooed or buy leather work - it is a gathering place for the large community of artists that call Phoenixville home. While visiting a few months ago, the number of artists who stopped by just to say hi was really impressive - Jordan and John are obviously well liked, even just in the short time they've been in PA. The two of them have poured their heart and soul into Ravensgate, and it shows.

As for myself, I followed them from their previous home in North Carolina! My daily use wallet for the past year was made by John, and I have two tattoos from Jordan with plans to get many more. I couldn't tell you how many compliments I receive regularly on all three. I have no problem making the 8 hour drive if it means I get to come here (if only I could afford to do it more often!). Ravensgate makes me feel comfortable and at home, like hanging out with old friends, and that means a lot coming from someone who has bad social anxiety.

Ravensgate offers some of the best vibes in Phoenixville and are an asset to the community. They offer a selection of locally crafted art, jewelry, and trinkets, as well as expertise in tattoo and leather work. John and Jordan are amazing artists, but they also care about their clients and community! We find ourselves stopping in just to say hi, chat, and be in the space.

I purchased a wallet for my partner last December and he has been so happy with it. It’s sturdy and well made, and also stylish and one of a kind. The best part, John offered to personalize his wallet with a key ring to make it more functional for my partner. All we had to do was talk to him and sit and wait while he worked his magic!

Jordan’s tattoo space is beautiful, full of natural light and plants, and seems like the most comfortable welcoming place to get work done. Even though I’m not ready for a tattoo, i dream of the day when i can finally get something from her!
