I never heard back from the following complaint....My family and I went to Maya cinema in Pittsburg, Ca on May 31st and we had a very bad experience. The lady who took our tickets asked my sister-in-law to open her purse. She asked her to move things around and then told her she had to take the food in her purse to the car. This was wrong on so many levels. First of all, I had a big purse as well but was not asked to open my bag. Second of all, what right does anyone have to tell a paying customer to open their bag and then to take their property inside of their bag to the car? I felt that this was highly inappropriate and decided to call and speak to a manger. The name of the person I spoke to was Amanda. She explained to me that the theater wanted to check for weapons and also make sure no food was brought into the theater because of all the trash it created by customer's who left their McDonald's bags behind after the movie. I had a hard time understanding her logic because if security is such an issue, shouldn't there be security guards checking 'everyone's' bags. I told her that of course we want to be safe when we go to the theater but again, why weren't all bags checked? This made us feel as if there was a problem with discrimination. Also, regarding the trash left behind, that will happen whether it's a McDonald's bag or a tub of popcorn...comes with the territory. As an adult, and paying customer, I refuse to be told what I can and cannot have in my purse to eat during a movie. If I choose a better alternative to what is offered at the theater that is completely my decision. Whatever is in my bag is my personal property and I find it highly invasive to be asked by the ticket checker to open my bag. Again, this happened to my sister-in-law but we all took it very personal. Amanda said she would call me back but as of yet I haven't heard from her which makes me feel that my complaint was not as important as she said it was. I want Maya cinemas to understand how offensive this experience was and that it is unacceptable. There are plenty of nice theaters nearby but we have 'chosen' to support this one because it is in our community. Please take my feedback and work with it because you don't want unhappy customers. I would appreciate some feedback...

to whom It May Concern : Monday 23th of May 2016 I decided to take my daughters to eat and then to see a movie Angry Birds at 6:35 pm show, first went swimming at my brother's house, then we went to eat at Olive Garden, but the portions were quite large and ordered the rest to take home to avoid wasting time my daughters 10 and 11 years old were changed clothes in the bathroom of the restaurant, and there we put the takeaways, and as it was late 6.40 pm we ran to the Maya Theaters not had time to pass and put the bag in the car when we entered the theater one girl asked me tickets and demanded my daughter had the bag, I said it is clothes and leftovers from the restaurant, and she told me we had to return the bag to the car or not enter the cinema, at this point the movie already was begun, and I told her no, I was not going to walk to my car and lose another 10 or 15 minutes, then angry and frustrated, I asked my money back and asked to speak to the manager. A young blonde girl came and spoke only with the other employee and told me to return my money on deposit box, I cry out that the person who asked me the tickets needed more training and then I asked the young blonde manager, what kind of manager is she who did not have the decency to ask what the problem was, I'm in the business customer service and the customer and the customer is always first, she make me feel like I was not worth anything for being Latino let me remind you first the name is Maya movie theaters can not be more Latin than that and second, no one can judge a person by the way they look I served two deployments, with United States Marine Corp can not be more American than that serve the motherland, When I visit Maya Theaters always I bring my family of 5 and other times even schoolmates of my daughters till 7 girls, I'm a good customer and therefore the way that made me feel yesterday, did not make me want to go back to Maya Theaters anymore, in other words the movie theater is for customers who pay to see a movie and not just for two girls with very little training and the only thing they expect is the paycheck every two weeks. I am very disappointed and I hope you resolve the issue, please email me you...
Read moreI usually like this movie theater since I’ve been coming here since I was a lil girl but when I got there they wouldn’t let us go to the movie we’d like to see due to only one of us having ID and we were fine with that. As we were trying to chose a different movie there was a security guard who walked up to the lady saying is there a problem? (We has no attitudes or anything all were in a good mood!!) she then turns to her manager and says they wanted to watch this movie but only one has an ID the manager then continues to talk to us giving us false hope while we were going to choose another movie we tell my friend to get whatever movie he wants and the lady turns to him and says “You’re a random guy about to buy two girls a ticket to a movie and you don’t even know them? That’s sketchy and you cannot do that” I turned to her with confusion all over our faces and say “we all know each other ma’am we’re just trying to pick a different movie” we finally choose a different movie and as soon as we get into the theater the security guard is following us non stop. He followed us from the door to the room. From the room (at the END OF THE MOVIE) to the bathroom!! FROM THE BATHROOM TO THE PARKING LOT!! All we were doing was being respectful and watching a different movie. I’d understand if we were being disrespectful giving attitude but when she said we couldn’t watch the one movie we accepted the fact that it was on us for not bringing our ids and chose a different movie. I’ve never felt more disrespected and they were just doing way...
