On Friday, March 14, 2025, I had the pleasure of visiting The Urban Tap for dinner with a group of friends. This was my first time dining here, and it certainly left a great impression!
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was lively and inviting. The restaurant was buzzing with customers, and the bar area was well-equipped with several large-screen TVs for sports enthusiasts. Despite the crowd, we had a great dining experience.
Now, onto the food—absolutely delicious! Every dish served to our group was well-prepared, flavorful, and generously portioned. Some of us even had leftovers to take home. It was evident that the chefs put great care into each meal, ensuring a satisfying experience for everyone.
Parking near Carson Street can be tricky, but we were lucky to find a spot on our first go-around. Just a note for future visitors—The Urban Tap does have a dedicated parking lot, but you do have to pay to use it, even after 6 PM.
Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of their menu. If you’re looking for a spot with great food, a vibrant atmosphere, and a solid selection of drinks, The Urban Tap is worth a visit!

Read moreTHE URBAN TAP ON CARSON IS A FAR CRY FROM THE URBAN TAP ON HIGHLAND AVENUE IN SHADYSIDE! WE STARTED OUT WITH PEPPER SOUP IT WAS HOT AND DELICIOUS. BUT THE $21 MAIN COURSE OF CRUSTED BEET SALMON WITH ZUCCHINI AND SQUASH WAS PATHETIC! THE PLATE WAS SERVED PRETTY, BUT ONCE YOU CUT INTO YOUR DISH IT WAS A NO GO WITH THE HALF SAUTEED AND NON SAUTEED VEGETABLES. WHICH ENDED UP LEFT PILED HIGH ON OUR PLATE. 4 OZ OF SALMON TODAY ISN'T ENOUGH TO FEED 2 ADULTS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CRUSTED SALMON WAS HALF BURNT. SOME GOOD NEWS THOUGH ABOUT THE URBAN TAP SOUTH SIDE OUR WAITRESS DESIREE WAS VERY VERY NICE AND DISPITE MY DISAPPOINTMENT IN MY MAIN COURSE. HER SOFT SPOKEN PERSONALITY WAS WELL WORTH A NICE TIP. CONCLUSION BETWEEN THE 2 LOCATIONS OF THE URBAN TAP'S! SHADYSIDE STILL MY FAVORITE ATMOSPHERE AND LOCATIONS ARE DIFFERENT AS DAY AND NIGHT. MORE SPACE @ THE SHADYSIDE LOCATION. THE URBAN TAP IS SIZEABLE ON THE SOUTHSIDE, BUT IF YOU RUN INTO A LARGE PARTY @ THE CARSON STREET LOCATION, TRYING TO HAVE A SIMI-QUIET DINNER WITH A LARGE PARTY SETTING DIRECTLY RIGHT BEHIND YOU, SO DAM CLOSE THAT THE WAITER FOR THAT GROUP OF FOLKS, FEET KEPT KICKING MY CHAIR EVERYTIME HE CAME OVER TO SERVICE THERE TABLE. IT WAS SO ANNOYING THAT MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH MOVED OUR TABLE OVER, JUST SO THE WAITER COULD GET TO HIS CUSTOMERS AND WE COULD ENJOY OUR DINNER IN PEACE! IN SHORT ORDER AS I BRING THIS TO A CLOSE, BOTH LOCATIONS NEED TO CONSIDER GETTING A SERIOUS DESERT ON TAP! OFFERING UP DONUTS AS YOUR ONLY DESERT, SERIOUSLY MAKES ME THINK "DID I JUST HAVE DINNER OR IM I AT BREAKFAST"? P.S. THE ANSWER IS YES! I TOOK THE TIME TO THOURLY READ MENU THIS TIME, AND THEY DO OFFER BRUNCHES ON THE WEEKENDS. I PLAN ON CKECKING...
Read moreWe recently had dinner here to celebrate my future sister-in-law finding her dream wedding dress! We were all so excited because it was a first-visit for everyone + the menu looked 🔥
Unfortunately the room was So loud we could barely hear each other across the table, there were huge flies (looked like horse flies which bite) swarming us throughout the meal, there were many were covering the floor by the windows, and sadly the service left Much to be desired…
First off, the drinks menu failed to list Red Bull as a main ingredient in “Shipwrecked,” one of their specialty cocktails and the person who ordered it should not have caffeine due to a medication she’s taking— very dangerous!!!
Multiple orders at our table came out wrong and in fact one person in our party had to send back her entree because of an allergy which she explicitly shared about when ordering. To top it all off, the remake wasn’t rushed which meant she didn’t get her food until AFTER everyone else at the table was done eating… not to mention it came out cold. No apology given by the server either who was inattentive at best.
I will say: most of the food we had was delicious and the place was decently full of patrons so they’re clearly doing something right… I personally gave the food category a 4-star rating because my entree (the tuna appetizer) was phenomenal! I’ll be dreaming about it for weeks, I’m sure!
I’ll close with this: I’m not often one to leave a review for a less than 4 or 5 star experience because I know how Google reviews can impact a business (I’m a small business owner myself), but sometimes honest and constructive feedback leads to positive...
