We enjoyed this! We took our two small children as a tourist attraction. We parked at the upper station. There is a parking lot right across the street from the station and it cost $12. There was also some street parking that was probably cheaper!
The ride itself is just a few minutes and offers great views and the charm of the old cable car.
Upper station sells some mementos including cute ornaments. You can request exact change from the upper station as well and they will give you some so you can pay at the lower station. At the upper station there is a great observation deck with a few pay for use binoculars and a viewing room for the cables. Then you wait for the light above the cable car access door to turn green and can walk on and sit. Ride down and when you exit you can pay. You put the money in a metal tube and that's why it has to be exact change. Then we boarding again and went up to the top again. $5 round trip for adults and half that for six and up.
No bathrooms at all! We went across the street to a saloon that had decent priced and tasty food and ate there so we could use their restroom. I heard someone say if you exited the upper station and went down the street there was a porta potty? Can't confirm.
Upper station is handicap accessible. There are two stairs to go in the main door entrance, or take a gate up a ramp to the observation area and enter that way. I saw strollers but wouldn't recommend bringing them on the car because...
Read moreOverlook from Duquesne is just amazing. So whenever you see pictures of Pittsburgh, I am sure you are looking at downtown and a cable car in the foreground- it's taken from here.
It's a perfect place to take a photo of the golden triangle with the point park water fountain with a cable car in the foreground. yes, mobile pictures are also great.
A cable car (incline) takes you to the top of the hill and you have ample time to explore the area and city view. The spot is fenced and that is not big. for getting your picture clicked with Pittsburgh in the background- you might get the queue so keep patience.
not much to do in the neighborhood except this overlook. but this is enough to come here and see a great view.
Tip: You don't have to take a Duquesne incline to come here, you can drive your car and just visit the spot, and its free. parking is just...
Read moreBesides The Grandview Overlook, the Duquesne Incline is one of the best places in the entire city of Pittsburgh to take breathtaking selfies, pictures, and videos.
You have to pay exact change in order to use the incline either one way or round-trip, but there are change machines inside. There are rounds every 15 minutes to go up and down.
I highly recommend you to take pictures and videos of the incline early in the morning, and early in the afternoon, and in the evening. The incline is very handicap friendly, and there is plenty of room for wheelchairs in the incline cars.
I highly recommend you to visit this place if you are looking for something fun to do that doesn’t...
