I've been around this park for 25 years because it was down the street to our home of 19 years, but lately just visiting the park with my grandsons. My wife and I now live out of state but enjoying Washtenaw County parks is a priority when we visit.
Of all the parks around that we go to, my now 8 year old grandson always picks the Montibeller Park. It's grown so much and so beautifully over the years but the transformation over the past year deserves great commendation of all involved. It's clean with lots of options for kids to play on, and plenty of space for adults to relax. The slides and swings are thoughtfully placed and spaced for optimal enjoyment of the kids. The picnic areas can accommodate small and large groups, and the grounds are amazing to walk and play pickup sports.

Read moreThis park is such a hidden gem. It isn't as "popular" as other parks in the area bc it doesn't have extensive walking trails and you can't see the enormity of it from the road, so you don't expect it to go on and on, but it does! and there are walking trails in the woods at the back of the park. The rolling green hills are perfect for picnics too, and there is always plenty of grass space to spread out and to feel "alone" even with others present. There are tennis courts, practice ball fields, a pavilion, bathrooms, and play structures. Absolutely something for everyone....

There's a great gathering area, fantastic playground, areas to play sports, walking trails - AND, if you walk toward the back of the park, cross the little bridge over the running water, there is a dilapidated tennis court that has been taken back by nature, and it's the most beautiful place to just sit and think or take pictures. I've sat in there and watched thunderstorms, I've sat in there and watched it snow - Bella (seen in pictures) and I love that we have a little oasis in the middle of the city where we can get...
