I wouldn't recommend this beach if you are a minority. We were made to feel like our every move was being watched. Their is a big Caucasian guy who is ready to pounce on anyone of color. You can see the difference in how he interacts with people of the same race. Making them feel welcomed. While letting the minorities know that they are being watched. He will also walk up to them and without asking open their cooler attempting to put them in an I got chu moment. This is the new era of racism. Where as they claim to be friendly and equal to all but have an inherent bias toward people color who they perceive as quick to make a mistake. That is the way I was made to feel when I went there. I've never been in trouble with the law. But I was made to feel like it was an overly policed park and my every move was watched. If you do not believe me watch this man's interactions with people. Cause with my own eyes I saw walk up to a Hispanic man and not ask to check in his belongings but just looked in them. Then walked up to an African American man who didn't have a cooler but made sure to point out the rules. After that he walked up to a Caucasian couple and made no mention of the rules or checked there cooler but said welcome and enjoy your day. I would recommend millennium park if you would like to feel welcomed for all races. I posted his photo in the photo's section. He was very aggressive and rude in his interaction with people of color. It's more about being even handed I bet if they kept track of which type of people they asked to leave they would more then likely see the disparity. I didn't know it was legal for them check your coolers and belongings without your consent. The owner's comment is very telling says I was there for only 10 min. Proving his intention of hawking over minorities. Accusing me of pouring alcohol. But never looked to see or even gave me the opportunity to show I was pouring an Arnold Palmer in my steel tumbler. He just walked away when I informed him to look in the cooler. Communication would go along way. But your intention and quick decision to judge minorities of which one came up to me that day and explained I wouldnt get anywhere trying to communicate with you. Your right I do have other places more welcoming that I can go to. This post is so other people know how poorly minorities are treated and unwelcome there. Now explain to me how many facts you observed in 10 mins of me being there with my wife and 2 son's and how as a man you choose to try to intimidate me in front of my 2...
Read moreWent to this park for the first time with some friends and our kids. There was a possibility of rain and the man at the gate informed us of that. About 30 minutes after we were there it started to sprinkle they then told everyone to get out of the water and that they had to exit the park. The same guy from the gate comes over with his phone video taping us collecting our stuff and him repeatedly shouting that we need to leave. This was extremely uncomfortable, here he is video taping my daughter running around in a swim suit as hes yelling. I confronted him and said that it didn't seem right that he was video taping us with out our consent. He continued to say that it's a public beach and whatever videos or photos are taken here can be put on the internet. He said since we entered the gate that gave him permission. No where does it say that I will be video taped if I enter this swimming area. And it was his personal phone! Is he going to delete the videos after today or does he get to keep them for however long he wants. You want to be protected for liability issues get professional cameras! I will not be returning! Also my girlfriend tried to reenter after we were forced to leave and they wanted to charge her again. Was...
Read moreLove this park! It is small and for local residents only. There is a nice beach, though small, it is very kid/family friendly. There are two nice children's play areas. There is a small pavilion that has 4 or 5 picnic tables, just be aware that this area is for eating only. If you try to reserve a table in the pavilion without eating, you will be asked to find a different place to sit. I appreciate this rule as it allows all of the patrons to eat in a nice comfortable place. There are also several picnic tables throughout the park if you want to eat in the sun. The park has strict rules that are strongly enforced so be sure you understand and are willing to comply. The one reason I dropped this to a 4 star is that at times those enforcing the rules are simply rude. I get it, I really do! People are always trying to take advantage these days and/or are ignorant of the rules. And I realize that those enforcing the rules get frustrated due to those always pushing the limits, however, not everyone...
