We visited Agave Mexican Restaurant on February 7, 2025, around 6:30 PM, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing due to the poor service from the hostess.
Upon arrival, we were told there was a short wait with just one group ahead of us. However, over the next hour, we watched as at least five groups who arrived after us were seated before us—some of whom appeared to be friends of the hostess. When we tried to ask about our wait time multiple times, we were completely ignored, which was both frustrating and unprofessional. The only staff member who acknowledged us was a young man who, when we finally inquired, admitted, “Yeah, I know, she won’t even talk to me. I’m sorry about that.”
After an hour of waiting with cranky kids and no updates, we gave up and went to The Score next door, where we were seated promptly. It’s unacceptable for paying customers to be blatantly disregarded, and I sincerely hope management addresses this issue. We were excited to try Agave, but after this experience, we won’t be returning...
Read moreOverall it was a pleasant experience, the food arrived more warm than not. The selection of foods, and drinks available were wide, as well as a variety. I think Chips and salsa while we weigh was nice. Would have liked to have the choice between it being cold, or warm. But I'm sure if asked they'd fixed it for me The service was good, food came out in a timely fashion. For those who know the history of the area. This is the old Perkins Resturant Building. The service from beginning from beginning to end, really was top notch. Really would have to think more about what I would change, but why ruin a date night for a unpleasant experience. On a closing not, the burrito's are americanized, meaning served were on flour base product, with no corn base available. I asked. I'd acknowledge this location, and might even suggest it if asked, so it was a very good experience. Seemed to be many happy people in attendence, an hear a few repeat...
Read moreI ordered El Agave for the rest time over Doordash tonight, and had some ups and downs. The food was fresh and hot, and they had included 2 free pork tamales with a nice little note - very cool of them! And they were delicious. I really liked the ranchero sauce and the pork was flavorful.
But the grande quesadilla fell a little short. When it specifically says "grilled" quesadilla, that's what I want - grilled and crispy on the edges, some grill marks on meat and tortilla.
This was much less cooked than my preference. The tortillas were still soft enough that they melted into each other. I also strongly don't like a cheese sauce on a quesadilla, and prefer melted cheese. I could be wrong, but it seemed like a queso sauce to me and wasn't what I wanted or expected.
I don't know, maybe that's a preference thing. I'm not going to be too harsh over it, and I'd order something else from El Agave again based on those...
