Legacy Thrift — Local services in Plainfield Charter Township

Starting off, my father volunteered here before he passed so the store is held a special place in my heart to know that this is where he spent some time. I have several complaints. The number of donations that come in to the store do not align with any updated products being put out. You don’t need to put out everything that your volunteers think are high-end and check the rest. The pricing here ranges from great to ridiculous. There is currently a lamp on display that they are selling for $500. Thrift stores are supposed to be for those looking to be eco-conscious or for those who can’t afford to go in and buy full priced items. They don’t pay their employees. They get all of the merchandise for free. There is no need for everything to be so expensive.(This honestly applies to most religious based thrift stores in the area, unfortunately.) If you don’t want children to touch the secondhand toys in your store, put them up and out of reach. Don’t reprimand somebody else’s children for respectfully and quietly exploring the toy section while their mother is shopping right next to them, spending money at your store. I would get it if they were making a big mess and being loud and disrespectful, but they were simply sitting on some toys that were meant to be sit on, in their reach. I was verbally shamed because of that. I put my selection of items back and I will not be returning. The lack of love understanding and empathy does not correspond with their religious affiliation. Today I went to this store to look for an old door handle of some sort to add to the busy board I'm making for my son's birthday gift. I was excited when I found one. Unfortunately, it had no tag. I didn't think it was an issue being a second-hand used store. Well, I was way wrong! They have a policy that if something is not price marked, the customer can not buy the item. They could offer me no reason for this policy. The cashier went back and spoke to 'Marty' and she came back with the terrible news. She stated I could come back later this week to see it back on the shelf. I was floored. What kind of second-hand store claiming to raise money for a certain type of mission wouldn't want every dollar they could get. I told her I was writing a review and not a good one. She told me to have a good day. I honestly am not sure I'll be shopping here again based on how this situation...

I've completely taken this off my list of regular thrift stores to visit. Their prices have become ridiculous and it's a very seldom you can even get here to shop since they are open anytime that a working person could go to shop anyway. Right up the road there is a Salvation Army that's open from 9:00 to 9:00 Monday through Saturday and a Goodwill that is open from 10:00 to 7:00 Monday through Saturday and also limited Sunday hours. Why bother with this one you have those two options? Also as you can see from previous posts, they have a lot of items with no tags that they won't sell you. They say it's because people change prices but why punish the innocent people for what bad people are doing? Nothing like lack of Integrity for a store that says they are...
