Probably the nicest facility that I’ve been to across the country. A real gem for watching trains. It has viewing platforms along both perpendicular lines along with a mezzanine level for a higher perspective. Is completely ADA accessible including the upper level via a lift.

The only reason for removing a pair of stars is the amount of traffic. I have been in Tampa for 2 weeks and visited this spot on my first day and came back a half dozen times during my visit and only saw 2 freight trains in conjunction with the daily Amtrak service.

Not sure what is going one with the traffic on this line. But Plant City is a neat little town and worth a visit on its own. One Friday they closed the road that leads to the platform and had some sort of event. So if you are married this is a good...

Me and my friend came here to relax and maybe see a train or two. Instead, these kids were screaming at us asking when the next train was coming and other stuff we really just didn’t care about. I really wanted to chat with my friend (and hopefully see a train) I asked one kid politely to please leave us alone, and a woman (his mom?) began berating us about how rude we were and she accused us of telling her son to be quiet (?) when we said no such thing. We left.

That wasn’t the end of it. We decided to give it another try a few months later. When we arrived, there was a group of crazy, very rowdy teens cussing loudly, yelling, and banging stuff against the railings. They even threw stuff at a security camera… We left I’m disgust, and never saw a train both times....

One of those things you do with your boy that is remembered for a lifetime, he's growing up so fast and one day these moments are gone, I'm blessed to have shared this moment and countless others! Plant city by itself is special blessed city, going to the train museum is always a stop for me and my lil boy , these are the moments in time that money or anything can touch! Take your your lil one to see a train, might be the one thing he/she will remembers for...

We were in the neighborhood and decided to check out the Plant City Train Viewing Platform. It looked promising, but unfortunately, but the little museum was closed! There were no details anywhere about why or when it would reopen. The doors were locked, and there were empty boxes near the entrance, which made the whole situation feel odd. To top it off, no trains were passing by while we were there. The kids were disappointed, and so were we. Definitely not what we expected.

It's a really interesting and FREE attraction and museum. They have model railroads inside and historical artifacts and photo ops. Once a month (2nd Saturday I believe) there is a really cool and expansive car show (also free) that is very entertaining. A real step back in time, for sure.

Nice little museum. Saw some neat stuff about history of trains. Nice little diversion. On the national historic register of places also. Free admission, donations are welcome.
