Good museum for kids 7 and under. My son has fun here a couple times a year (come up from the Upper Keys). They have seasonal events, buy one, get one free in September, Broward residents or students going to college/graduate programs in Broward get $2 off ($12 per person at this time). Today we both got in for $12 since it is at September rates which is worth it (at $24 for two people is ok but adults should not have to pay as they are just guardians of the children enjoying the musuem, make child rate higher or adult fee much less/free).
I am giving 0.5 stars to the cafe, a half star that they offer more than snacks (snacks at $1.50 per tiny mini size bag of chips, pretzels, etc) and about $7.50 to $10 for a horrible sandwhich. Paid $10 for a sandwhich that “comes” with chips. The sandwhich was a mozz cheese panini with tomatoes, dressing and argula. Was a four inch hogie with one very thin slice of round mozzarella that left half the sandwhich plain bread and literally four potato chips. Do not get anything at the cafe or eat before you come. Also the cook was wiping her hands in a nasty stained all the way through BROWN rag in the back that was right next to the all vegetables and the carrots given for kids meals. Unsanitary. I really wish I ate before or along the way of the two hour drive to get here. Obviously, the musuem was worth the drive but the cafeteria literally left a bad taste...
Read moreI don’t think the “art” is appropriate for small children. Looks dark and at times demonic and with hidden subliminal meaning. What happen to Young At Art?! It used to be bright and kid friendly, with creativity and enrichment as their core. So much more could have been done in to make it more creative and innovative. Now this location seems to be under new management or completely changed their orientation, instead it’s become more geared toward an older audience that has the appetite for this type of art and uniendo. Children don’t need displays of art that pushes a specific agenda, specifically regarding gender. My child (5) who is very sensitive to imagery was disturbed and says she’s not going back. In addition, the girl in charge of the art project tables was lacking in direction and was unable to explain simple instructions of the art projects. She seemed incapable of verbalizing to my child in a way my child could understand and appeared lost at times, suffice to say she did not offer much help. It’s such a shame!! I’m incredibly disappointing with the total downgrade and sharp shift toward an older crowd. We where regulars at the Davie location and now we won’t be going back. I have 3 under 5 and this place is definitely not...
Read moreThis place used to be awesome. I used to love this place and I even had a one year membership about 3 years ago. My son loved it and so did I due to the fun and interactive areas. However, after not going for about 2 years due to my son starting school, I decided to go back. Guess what?....nothing has really changed! There are two main areas (“exhibits”) that change every so often and everything else pretty much stays the same. I understand it’s not feasible to change everything but at least keep the areas presentable. The ponchos in the water area were torn and some could not be worn, the market had many missing items, etc. A lot of the areas had many missing things. A little maintenance, coat of paint, and replacement of key items goes a long way! I understand kids are kids and they wear things down but there’s a point someone should say “let’s see what we can do”. I did not give less stars because I agree that if your child is young, such as mine, then it can provide a day “out” that keeps your child relatively busy. I see now why it’s on Groupon every week. For the Groupon rate, it’s worth it but I don’t recommend a one year...
