So, I arrived on the night of the 13th of June to the Hyatt Place Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation with my family. Our experience was a disaster, we first start this nightmare from hell with the front desk lady which was completely rude from the beginning. She was on her cellphone instead of checking us in, while we waited and the girl was on her cell, a few guest came to the front desk complaining that their clothes were stolen from the laundry room, you know what the front desk lady did? She laughed with her colleague that was next to her!!! So once she was done chatting, we told her we had a reservation, she did the usual ask for a credit card, as she was registering us on their system, we told her that we would split the payment for the stay on 2 cards once we check out, which she responded with a nasty attitude that she couldn’t and once the deposit went thought that it was automatically paid with no options to split payment. We agreed since it was late and we drove 4 hours from Tampa. We arrived at the room , which was #506 on 5th floor and it had a terrible smell, we had a child and she was traumatized with the smell which you know I won’t repeat what it smelled like. We complained about the room but were not taken seriously. So on that same first night we asked for house keeping every night, we they said yes. So the next morning we took our grab and go breakfast (was barely a fruit and coffee) and spent the day out. We came back on the evening and saw that nobody had done housekeeping to our room!! So we went back to the front desk, were greeting with the same nasty front desk lady and she said that no house keeping was done, except on the 5th night.. who stays 5 nights? almost no one! We asked for towels since the ones from the first night were already used and you know what she said? There’s none, they’re in the dryer and I don’t know how long it will take, so we complained that the least we can have are towels!! Which she said was not her problem and to come back later. After arguing for a few moments with her she said she would call up to our room and let us know when towels were ready, no call was ever made. The 3rd day we went back to the front desk in the morning and was greeting with a guy which said that we should understand that she was alone in the evening shift. Is this the service Hyatt offers??? We requested them immediately and he went somewhere to get them and threw them in our faces. After that we went to grab our breakfast and the lady at the cafeteria kept looking at us with a nasty look like she didn’t want to be there, we asked for bananas and she said none we available and that should eat apples. What kind of comment is that? On that 3rd. night the AC on the room was always loud so we turned it off every night, but on this night the room became very humid, we saw that water was leaking from the AC to the carpet and a rancid smell started to fill the room up, we couldn’t sleep all night!!! To finish this nightmare, when we checked out we asked once again to split the payment on to 2 cards, which another front desk lady agreed, so were we lied the first time? At to top it all off, every night we came back to the hotel, there were people smoking marihuana on the parking lot. To add to it, on the last night while we checked that we didn’t leave anything behind on the room, we found old pizza boxes behind the sofa bed that belonged to other guests from many weeks before, not to mention that we had to buy bug spray for the ant infestation we had on the sink, found a dirty diaper outside the parking when we were leaving saw used paper inside...
Read moreA dirty Hyatt Place. I’m a platinum member of Hyatt Gold Passport and I’m completely fed up with dirty Hyatt Place hotels, primarily in the South. We checked in at about 10 pm after a long drive. Our room on the 5th floor smells heavily of the previous occupant- a musky, gag inducing odor. The room’s AC is cooling, but very slowly and it randomly shuts off. We were originally checked into a room across the hall where the AC didn’t work at all, so at least it’s an upgrade from that. The room fixtures are beat up and metal lamps and all metal parts are corroded. The tv is scraped up, sink is scraped up, everything looks worn and not what I expect from a Hyatt hotel. The room shows months if not years of haphazard housekeeping standards. There is mildew and hair in the shower, which seems to have become an acceptable standard at many Hyatt Place hotels the past couple years. There’s snot or god knows what on the shower curtain. Something nasty is splattered in the garbage can. There are glass/cup rings and smudges all over every surface. Even the Kleenex box cover is dusty and splatted with something. The floor has not been vacuumed and feels greasy underfoot. There’s plastic clothing tags and loose debris on it. The towels are dingy and coarse and should have been retired long ago. But the worst is the dirty bedding. Not even the sheets have been changed since the last guests. This is unacceptable! If there are blood marks, black marks, multiple hairs and debris on the sheets and pillows and the bedding does not smell fresh- it has not been changed since the last guests! GUESTS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REQUEST CLEAN BEDDING- HAVING TO SLEEP ON SHEETS AND PILLOWCASES USED BY PREVIOUS GUESTS IS UNSANITARY AND REVOLTING. The practice of reusing comforters and coverlets guest after guest is gross, but now the sheets are being reused?! Even the “clean” bedding that we eventually got at almost midnight has black marks on it and what looks like wooden shavings on one of the coverlets. Is the bedding thrown on the ground after it’s washed? The cleanliness and wear/tear standards of this hotel chain has dropped dramatically and for me it is no longer worth...
Read moreBeware! This hotel has a serious mildew issue. We arrived late on Satruday evening and were checked in quickly and efficiently. The hotel was packed as there was a kid soccer tournament that weekend. We got up to our room and opened the door and you could immediately smell the mustiness paired with the overwhelming stink of some serious vaping having happened in that room. I went over to the A/C unit to kick it on and it was already set at 67. So if that was the level of mildew with the A/C being set at 67 then there is a problem. You could see that someone had previously tried to pry the window open to no avail. The window was corroded in it's track. The satin nickel light fixtues had the beginnings of rust/corrosion on them and all the door hinges were rusting as well. It was late and I was not about to drag myself to another room. I should have went downstairs and demanded it. I woke up congested with a nasty headache and had to take a second shower because I felt gross as if the mildew had permeated everything. Went downstairs to tell person at front desk who stared at me as like I was speaking in Latin or something. She told me manager would be on in 10 minutes. Went back to room with coffee and stepped in again, the mildew and vape smell was overwhelming. Packed up to get out of the room and went down stairs to tell manager that the A/C is not working, the mildew in the room is overwhelming and someone had been seriously vaping in the room. Her response was "ok." So we left, no apology, no "we'll look into it, nothing." So all I can say if if you have respiratory issues or a comprimised immune system do not bother to stay at this hotel. You will pay for it both literally and figuratively.
Note: the picture of the canvas artwork I included because it was so damp and humid in the room that the canvas was warped and pulled out...
