The best aspect of Luka’s is the coffee/espresso. They have the best coffee in Davie, and even give you cute designs using the steamed milk. A cappuccino and a pan de bono waffle you can’t go wrong with. I wish the waffle came with real syrup but we just opt not to eat the high fructose corn syrup fake syrup they serve with it.
We have been here 4 times now and each time we were disappointed by the food apart from once. The pictures playing on the tv screens make the dishes look so delicious, you’d have a hard time believing the food you’re seeing is sub par in flavor and texture but sadly that’s the reality for the majority.
The pan de bono waffle, shrimp tacos and the Venezuelan/colombian empanadas are the best things on the menu and are delicious. The empanadas are crispy and freshly fried, the shrimp are spicy but so flavorful, the pan de bono waffle is crispy on the outside but soft and tender on the inside with the delicious cheesy center.
We have tried the bowls, the cachapas, the omelettes, the burgers. The chicharrones are not crispy but rather rubbery and impossible to chew, we ordered the burger with them once and it was so disappointing. The shredded beef is flavorless and not tender, I was saddened by that bowl. The carne asada is okay but again lacking flavor and tenderness. You can never go wrong with maduros, they’re always tasty and the lentil soup is also good.
Taco Tuesdays is a great deal but beware they do not separate the tacos by who ordered them but rather they combine them by type. It was a total mess in the end trying to get the checks right and they also messed up on the tacos, confusing several orders and requests. For instance, my friend wanted two shrimp tacos with no spicy sauce and one picahna taco with no red onions. I wanted two shrimp tacos all the way and an al pastor taco, my Al pastor taco was brought with no onions and she was brought three shrimp tacos two of which had the spicy sauce. It was a mess, if they had just done the tacos by each persons order instead of lumping them together by type it would’ve been much less of a headache.
The margaritas are okay but too sweet, so beware. I couldn’t finish mine. Again, we love the coffee, the pan de bono waffles, and the shrimp tacos but so far nothing else. It’s also pretty expensive which makes it even more disappointing when you get something you don’t enjoy eating.
The waiters, waitresses, and hostess are all very sweet and attentive. We’ve had Carlos twice now and each time he was fast and friendly! The taco disaster was with another server I won’t name. We will definitely continue to come to Lukas, overall the coffee...
Read moreMy husband and I were there this past Sunday for brunch. We got seated fast along with another five other tables at the same time. Our server took our drink orders and got our coffees. Another server came to take our foot order my husband had the Criollo classic and I had the Luka Rancheros. It was a long wait for the food to come, our server came over and told us that the food would be out in a few, he apologized said that all the orders had gone in at the same time from the other tables. We told him that it was ok. When the food came it was a huge big disappointment because both my husband’s food and mine were both cold. The refried beans on my plate where iced cold. When the server came by we told him that the food was cold and that we ate it that way because we were hungry and didn’t want to keep on waiting. He apologized and offered for our dishes to be changed and we said no at this point. He told us that he had spoke to the manager and that the coffees on the order was on the house. The manager never came to our table to see what had gone wrong. That for us was a disappointment, specially since both of us work in the restaurant business. Although, our food was cold we had thought of giving the place a second chance since the flavor of the food was good. However 30 minutes after leaving the establishment I started an allergic reaction that took me to the emergency room. To me this only means that my food came in contact with seafood(Octopus). I had not eaten anything before coming to the restaurant or after we left. Your staff, cooks must be very careful with the food handling, food allergies are extremely serious and can cause death. By the time I made it to the emergency room my throat was swollen and I had hives all over my body. It’s unfortunate we had a bad experience and will not be visiting this place...

My Wife & I hosted a celebration for our 2 kids there and it met and exceed our expectations!
Dianna was extremely helpful on the phone going over all the details of their menu, venue, and how they could accommodate our party of about 30 guest. Then when I showed up in person to preview the place, they greeted me like I was family and showed us to the entire left side of the venue that was reserved for us.
The day of our event, I arrived 30 mins before the reservation with a cake and a banner and they even help me hang it up from the ceiling. We ordered 2 Office Boards to serve as appetizers those were a hit! It had 12 arepas, 12 empanadas and 12 cheese tequenos.
Dianna assigned Stefany & Carlos to our section and they were excellent! They were attentive the needs of our guest and ensured all the food orders came out promptly and correctly.
From the Chicken to the steak and even the lintel soup; all of the guest raved about the food! The fusion of Venezuelan, Peruvian, Colombian, and Cuban flavors is like none I’ve ever seen before. 🍔🥗🍗🍚🍛🔥🔥🔥
Camilla & Andres also helped out with our section ensure empty plates were removed, bringing extra condiments utensils. Even the hostess Michelle checked in on us from time to time.
My guy Diego at the bar surprised me with a smoked Ro Zacappa Diplomatico 🥃 and it was smooth.
Overall if I could give Luka 10 stars I would! I’ll definitely be back on a Thursday night to catch the live music or just to watch some...
