Visit this spot on a regular basis with my elderly mom who enjoys watching the incredible boats. Only wish this scenic spot were kept free from trash by those who use it. Despite having plentiful trash and recycling cans, it's depressing to see there are cigarette butts, bottles and trash throughout the area... so unnecessary. My other (huge) pet peeve is the parking fees. Why do NJ towns feel the need to charge exorbitant fees for parking? For many, including seniors, families and hard working singles, $3.25/ hour is a hefty charge. To see some private parking lots in Point Pleasant charging $50/ day this summer is both embarrassing and disgraceful. They couldn't get back to land and were heading towards the ocean. I stopped a passing police car who called the coastguard and state police marine rescue. Passing boats threw them a line and stopped their drift, but the water was too rough to safely take them aboard. Marine rescue arrived and they were saved. I was with the police at the waters edge as these events unfolded, less than 25 feet away from my car. Yet I got a $65 parking ticket for being in the spot longer than the 1 hour limit. I normally stand next to my car while fishing and never had an issue. So it felt unfair to get one while speaking to police during...

You are not even allowed to step into the sea because it’s not considered safe enough… BEACH and OCEAN are both PUBLIC...
