Port Hueneme Beach Park — Attraction in Port Hueneme

Memorial Weekend Sunday- went with friends and a few crab traps. It was about 6pm when we pulled up to a full pier with a trap every 8 or so feet apart, and 4 or 5 people fishing between them.

Then trash cans were all overflowing.

Thankfully, there were a few families who had been there all afternoon who were leaving so we could set up our traps.

All the people fishing were pulling up small sardines and horse mackerel. Crab traps were pulling up tiny, undersized rock crabs, which were all thrown back. Lucky for us, we had 1 of the 2 large spider crabs that were caught.

My buddy who had lived there forever told me that the pier had been double length what it is now, but some strong storms had folded the end of the pier up and crashing down on over itself.

Visited on a weekend and had a great time! The beach is clean, peaceful, and not overcrowded. Parking and entry were easy with no wait at all.
