Sorry I needed to edit my post. So originally I thought MY clothing items were stolen but to my suprise I came back to the YMCA to further discuss the incident that occured in the steam room.. where another patron took off her bathing suit top while in the steam room with me she exposed her breasts and was asking me if I like to sauna naked and explaining to me how "she" likes to sauna naked, then after I left came into the locker room and SHE asked me to help her put on her bra. 😡 that is how my items got left because this freaked me out and I left my suff.. Well the staff said they didnt see my stuff and told me repeatedly that it was not there FOR A WEEK so when I went down stairs to see if it was in the locker room after hearing that it wasn't there. The same woman who EXPOSED herself to me in the steam room was in the locker room again😱!! I went upstairs the tell the guy at the desk that my clothes ARE IN FACT HERE! And the woman who was exposing herself to me was in the locker room ... I thought I would get some help.. instead a man named Josh Chapman that had a black eye came up and let me know "Oh your my friend from Google" refering to my previous Google review. He said that I need to put MYSELF in the naked womans position that asked me to help her get dressed. He said I should consider her feelings. He said that people are allowed to be completely naked in the steam room, without a swim suit towel or anything. He said if I dont like it then "this is not the place for me". I asked where the rules are posted or if there is a handbook stating the dresscode for the locker rooms or steam room. They said they do not have any posted and they dont have to have any rules for the steam room. I asked if I could speak to anyone higher up and Josh said that "He is the top Dog of the YMCA". I called back after I got home to see if I could get a copy of their policies... and Jaden who answered at the front desk told me. The Blue Water Area YMCA is privatly owned by Josh Chapman. I said I thought the Y is a non profit? He said it is but this non profit is owned by Josh Chapman the Ceo and he is in charge of everything here. What I dont understand is why no rules are posted anywhere not even on paper? They let the young girls in the 18+ womens locker room to use the hair dryers (as they dont have any, I was told this by a young girl who was in the 18+ locker room). I have also been in the steam room and 2 little girls were in the 18+ locker room trying to enter the steam room, asking me if it was okay? Imagine what could happen. WHAT HAPPEND TO ME WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! HOW I WAS TREATED WHEN I REPORTED THE INCIDENT WAS EVEN WORSE. I plan to contact law enforcement today to see what can be done to keep the guests safer. ALSO ALMOST EVERY OTHER YMCA HAVE DRESS CODES AND RULES FOR THE STEAM ROOM! The other YMCA's say that you must have on at least a swim suit or towel. I can understand being naked in the shower behind a curtain by yourself... this is...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst YMCA on the planet. Just had the police called on me and my children because I brought a brand new Coast Guard Approved flotation device for my 2 year old to wear in the pool. Which is specifically stated and permitted in the regulations and conduct policy of this facility. Doesn't say specifically that only YMCA supplied items are ONLY permitted it says that it must meet certain guidelines. Which in the case it did. My son is 2 and is just starting to get used to the water and is very comfortable with his style of flotation device. Very rude and condescending staff asked me to leave which I wanted to know why but because I questioned someone at this facility I was immediately told to leave and the police were called. I eventually left after gathering my well behaved other children but they don't like when someone questions their own rules. Not how you treat members. The rules here are always a problem. You think you are following these rules and polices but because it says staff has the right to interpret them as they see fit or how they feel for the day is not how a organization should be run.
One will never be able to join any of their programs for some stupid reason especially if it centers around kids. Facilities here are always in need of updating and pool environments like slides, kids items are always in disrepair.
One needs to think twice about wasting any hard earned money at this facility so many other choices to choose from. Especially instead of working to solve the problem you escalate it to where the police end up being called because you don't want to handle it yourself. So be prepared for it. I have lived in plenty other areas around the US and belonged to many other YMCA and this one here in Port Huron has got to be the most SHAMEFUL on I've seen. But if fitting for the area.
I will be posting where I am getting my information from when I wanted to have my 2 year old son wear something that I as his parent would feel more comfortable with instead of some disgusting way to big device that was unacceptable. I don't care that it says the rules can be changed depending on which day of the month that particular person is on. I am and was going by the posted rules.
Don't the owner fool you on their go to excuse of hostile behavior, or foul language. None of that was used and none of that was exhibited today. That is what they cite when someone clearly follows their posted guidelines and rules and then questions them when one of the many employees change or bend them to the mood they are having for that day. This is a constant problem. One should trash the rules and then just make new ones every day as one see fit.
DO NOT JOIN THIS PLACE!! DON'T EVEN SET FOOT HERE! CLEARLY NOT A CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION OR ENVIRONMENT.
UPDATE: Still sucks and is the worst cesspool of an organization around. RUN!!! Nothing...
Read moreMy daughter is in their daycare program and my son went there when he was younger as well. I could never begin to describe how truly wonderful their program is. The amount of patience, kindness, and genuine love they show the kids is comparable to nothing else. I would highly recommend the program to anyone with kids looking for a good daycare. My daughter is 4 and Lord knows she can be challenging and they love her nonetheless. Everyone I have encountered over the years has been absolutely amazing! Janet, Meghan, Shanna, Lisa, Chelsea, Sam, and EVERYONE else that works there go above and beyond to make sure that the kids are learning in a safe and welcoming environment. I could've named off many more staff, and for the ones I missed, please know that you ALL have the patience of a saint and you'reall appreciated! I could never do what you all do and I'm sure you don't hear enough how amazing each and every one of you are. Thank you for being awesome leaders and role models for our future generation. With love, the...
