Review Date: March 2nd, 2012 Shine your light on me…. When I visited here during Spring Break 2012, it was still located in San Blas. If you have never been in the San Blas area, its really beautiful. But due to erosion, they had to relocate the lighthouse to Port St. Joe in the last few years. Luckily it was funded because it is my first lighthouse experience and I liked it. This is outdated information but when you visited the old place, you came up to a house and talked to the tour guide. I think the tour was $5 a piece, which is worth it. They take you up to the top of the lighthouse and you get to spend all the time you want up there. The ascent was via a very narrow spiral staircase. Once you got to the top, the view is… amazing. You can see for almost forever around you. Sadly, I accidentally deleted all my Spring Break photos, so all I had left were the ones I posted on Facebook. Luckily I have enough to post on here so you get a general idea. Since the erosion problem and the move to Port St. Joe, it seems like they have been battling budget concerns. I really hope things work out great for them because the people were fantastic and the lighthouse was really nice. You can read about the relocation via the wiki link below.

We arrived at 11:00am and were the first customers of the day. After paying the $5.00 per person and chatting with the friendly woman in the gift shop, she handed me the key and told me I could unlock the padlock myself! I love the small town trust and easy going attitude about it. We ascended the first set of steps outside and after unlocking the door to the main stairs, began climbing up the interior spiral steps. I’m not a fan of heights or cramped spaces and this was both. Although not bad at all! There were two windows on the way up and numbers on the wall to tell you how many steps you had climbed. Once at the top the wind was howling. We opened the two doors that led to the cat walk around the top. My kids went first and after some coaxing I stepped out into the wind. Hanging onto the railing, I walked all the way around the top. The views were great and the experience was well worth it. The height wasn’t bad and the staircase was actually really cool. If you’re even considering this, I’d say go for it! A great memory for my family!

Beautiful view from the top! The stairs are narrow, and the climb is kind of tight (you can't pass someone if you wanted to) but it's definitely worth the climb. Very unique 6 to other lighthouses we've climbed. We were the only ones climbing at the time. My 6 year thought it was awesome. It was $5 for an adult and $3 for a kid to climb - kids have to be at least 44 inches tall to climb.. wear closed shoes as flip flop/sandals aren't suitable for the climb.

Beautiful view from the top. Worth the climb up. The climb is on a metal circular staircase. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for kids. Must be 48” tall to climb. Gift shop is in the original assistant lighthouse keeper’s home. Upstairs is restored and open to the public. Gift shop is small but had lighthouse souvenirs. No public restrooms but the Port St Joe Visitors Center was a short walk with public restrooms.

Such a cool lighthouse. Staff is super friendly. I cant wait for them to finish the old lighthouse homes. Some of their sales to support the staff and repairs are from donations people have brought in to them. If you're claustrophobic dont attempt the climb. It is really worth if though if you can do it. They sell lighthouse passport books there you can buy to be stamped for each light house you go to.

I'm sure this would have been a very great place to explore, if it wasn't for COVID, and the fact that it was closed when I got there. I don't understand why they are so many negative and low reviews. Yes, this is a small tiny lighthouse and tiny museum, but it is what it is. Don't complain if you're looking for some big tourist experience. This is it. This is the history that is connected here.
