We visited the park and lighthouse today after a full day of paddleboarding and kayaking. The park is very nice and you can walk down to the beach if you like. We were going to climb the lighthouse, but unfortunately there was a storm blowing in wirh lightening and thunder. A tall metal structure is not the best place to be in that type of weather. The Port St Joe Lighthouse is a treasure and a sign of strength and stability for this coastal community. The George Gore Park area is always clean and well maintained by the county and is a safe place to walk the beach or play in the water. Located in a lovely little town, this quaint lighthouse appears to be unmanned, and the two buildings accompanying it appear to be undergoing renovations.
