George Core Park (Lighthouse Park) — Attraction in Port Saint Joe

We visited the park and lighthouse today after a full day of paddleboarding and kayaking. The park is very nice and you can walk down to the beach if you like. We were going to climb the lighthouse, but unfortunately there was a storm blowing in wirh lightening and thunder. A tall metal structure is not the best place to be in that type of weather. Grandbaby's first visit to Port St Joe was not disappointing! We attended the scallop festival, and it was fabulous as always. The Port St Joe Lighthouse is a treasure and a sign of strength and stability for this coastal community. The George Gore Park area is always clean and well maintained by the county and is a safe place to walk the beach or play in the water. On a road trip to see as many lighthouses as possible, and this was the last one we squeezed in at the end of our day. Located in a lovely little town, this quaint lighthouse appears to be unmanned, and the two buildings accompanying it appear to be undergoing renovations.
